How I feel about this character

I like her. I like the backstory they gave her, and her personality, and even the romantic subplot. I think people who disliked the changes sometimes make her seem flat but actually there is complexity there if you are willing to see it. 

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Jacques. And huh... I like some of the femslash stuff people make of her with Esmé and/or Jacquelyn but for reasons that are less related to the pairings themselves and more to the people who ship them I don’t seek their stuff.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Larry. Dewey (shhhh). Kit (shhhh). Maybe Lemony (shhhh).

My unpopular opinion about this character

I actually like her.

She gives me strong bi vibes.

She is not the super good person she seems to be (not that she is a bad person, but she is canonically a chef salad just like everyone and I LOVE IT).

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

Headcanon A:  realistic

Olivia is an orphan due to a failed VFD recruitment attempt. Maybe she realized this while reading The Incomplete History of Secret Organizations, or maybe she was so worried about the children that all thoughts of her own mysterious past were out of her mind.

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

(not exactly hilarious, just a little amusing) In her small group of friends, Olivia was always the best at giving life and love advice, despite her actual life being a mess.

She left her very embarrassing diary in the taxi, which means Kit will be able to see all her secrets and the whole page of “Mrs. Olivia Snicket”. 

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

During the days she spent in the Carnival before Olaf arrived, she would watch Jacques’ tapes again and again while daydreaming about meeting him again. Until she received the news. She couldn’t bear watching the tapes again after receiving them, until that last night before when she believed she would be able to escape with the Baudelaires.

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

Book!Olivia and Netflix!Olivia exist in the same universe. They’re twins. Miranda and book!Olivia (who is actually N. I like the name Nora for her) were recruited by VFD, but their parents managed to hide Netflix!Olivia (who is actually named Olivia). 

Olivia was sent to adoption with a different name, which is why VFD never found her. She grew up using this different name, but knew her real name due to some item her parents left with her. Note that her name is never used when she is in Prufrock, and we only learn it when she introduces herself to Jacques. She didn’t want to give her legal name to him as we all know you shouldn’t trust strangers who almost hit you with a taxi, no matter how hot they are.

N took her sister’s name at some point in something that probably involved faking her own death. She is very deep into this whole pretending to be someone else thing.

Kit and Lemony and our father all loved the same way- deeply. Wildly. That’s not to say it had to be reckless- our father could do simple, gentle gestures for our mother- things like hand-making a gift or reading together. But you could still tell he was pouring all of his devotion, the whole of his soul into the deed.

Kit being, well, Kit, though…of course it was reckless. Of course every gesture was a grand romantic display. Of course every crush deserved pages of poetry and hours of swooning over them. And of course, every argument was the end of the world. Though in one case, it kind of was…

I never approved of Olaf, and she knew it. She tried convincing me at first, and eventually gave up. When it finally crashed and burned, I didn’t say “I told you so”. What kind of twin would I be if I failed to comfort her? Besides, she was burning with anger and pain enough already. All that love spoiling, turning to hatred, the passion staying just the same, turned in another direction.
