(Genderqueer cousin anon) Another one of my favourite memories is watching my best friend and platonic soulmate slowly finding himself over the years. When we met, he was almost painfully cis. Now, he looks even more manly than I do sometimes. His voice is lowering naturally, he cut his hair, and he just overall seems happier with himself and that makes my heart swell with pride. When he's happy, I'm happy, and knowing I helped him discover himself fills me to the brim with joy <>
Wow! That’s really cool! I have a friend who’s bi-curious and I help her out with that since she questions her sexuality a lot, but if I were to name anything gender questioning related (story wise) that I have kinda like you just said, I’d say it would be when Az told me he wanted me to use he/him pronouns. He literally just went “I THINK I WANT TO USE HE/HIM PRONOUNS SO USE THOSE UNLESS I TELL YOU NOT TO” in the middle of lunch (at school) really awkwardly and forcefully so me and this other guy sitting with us were like damn dude ok its chill.
I barely knew anything about gender a year ago (which is amazing considering I’ve discovered I’m agender) and one of my other friends asked me to use he/him pronouns once at a time when I barely knew what transgender was and I was just like “Ok? whatever you want, idk.” and had no idea they were coming out to me so it was like 5 minutes of awkward eye contact before they just kinda snuck down the stairs and left. Then one day in the middle of class I just kinda had it hit me at once like OH THATS WHAT HE MEANT and yeah that still haunts me
