I spent so much time doing what others wanted and never felt comfortable. My capabilities as a vocalist were questioned because of that mistake. It took a while to convince the people around me that I know what's right for my voice. I might run my shit but I work with extremely seasoned musicians. To them it was - nice idea but no you should do this. So I continued singing melodies or covers that never captured my singing correctly. My singing seems like it has improved but it only looks that way because I'm comfortable being heard. I'm comfortable being heard because I'm finally singing through my heart. I'm singing through my heart because I'm singing about what I want. I'm singing about what I want because that's where my emotions are. I must use my emotions or I'm uncomfortable and won't use my true voice. Who wants to sing things that don't represent their feelings or showcase their talent the right way? No one.
