Vertigo | Tobin & Gray
@mercantilemercenary
It was a cool afternoon in Ram Village, the sun hanging low in the sky though it hadn’t quite reached evening. A warm breeze caressed the villagers, who were winding down from their busy days in each of their respective occupations. It was around this time that all of the children gathered to play, as their chores would be completed. Though earlier they had been playing in an open area in the outskirts of the village, many had ventured off to play in the creek. Tobin, on the other hand, had remained planted in front of the tree that had stolen their frisbee just fifteen minutes ago.
It had become lodged in one of the higher branches when Gray incorporated a bit too much power into his throw, much to everyone’s dismay. Due to its foreboding height, the other children had concluded it was best to leave it and engage in a separate activity. Tobin had others ideas. If I can get our frisbee down, the kids will think I’m cool! That would prove once and for all that I’m way cooler than Alm. That’ll show ‘em! He thought to himself, a determined expression developing onto his round cherubic face. He approached the trees, gazing up at the branches. He had climbed other trees before, so he assumed that climbing just a bit higher couldn’t be that hard.
He reached for a low branch, pulling himself up and maintaining his steadiness by keeping a hand on the trunk. He moved to reach for another branch when he heard a familar voice calling up to him.
“What are you doing? We all said-”
Tobin looked to the ground at hearing Gray’s familar voice, grinning in determination,
“I don’t care. I’m gonna do it!”
