Stranger
@feathered-richesâ
To say he was terrifying in appearance was an understatement. To say he was unsettling was as well. In the manor he had visited and he had stayed for almost a week now, a shadow that lurked about the halls in quiet silence. He hardly spoke unless it was to address Beakley, Chise, or Scrooge. The woman that occupied him, along with her familiar, were far more talkative but still remained relatively quiet. They didnât socialize much with the residents of the manor, not because they didnât want to but they werenât sure how to go about it. Chise and Ruth were still getting used to the idea of normal animals, like ducks, being able to live in a society like this and communicate with the same advancements as humans and yet they still remained hidden from them. Elias on the other hand found that there were few adults that could withstand his presence and appearance, most could only tolerate him in passing and as such it left him avoiding the majority of the residence. Leaving only Scrooge and Beakley to be his only conversation partners other than Chise.
He avoided the children like the plague... He never really liked children, they could see parts of him he didnât want people to see, they could often leave him vulnerable and open-- but that wasnât the only thing. He avoided them as well because if animalkind was anything like humankind, than itâd lead to very unneeded consequences. Just by seeing his form they could run and scream, just by looking at his eyes they could flee from him and tell someone thatâs more harm than help. Memories of awful humans and attacks permeated his memory and he found himself wondering why. He understood he wasnât a kind species, a beast that appeared to be no more than a monster, but at the same time he is far different than what he was back in his early years. He no longer feasted on human flesh, even if occasionally he craves it, and he no longer showed a true desire to kill or maul. He was relatively quiet when it came down to it, relatively polite and distant. People look at him and then they wonder if it was some dark thought that appeared in his eyes or just a trick of the light. His behavior was mostly gentlemanly but that didnât stop that past-- a past nobody could move away from, they cling to it as if itâs some priceless valuable.
Elias sat reading in the library, quiet and silent, his eyes scanning over the books that Scrooge had. Books about psychology and emotions mostly, he was nothing but a child and thus being able to identify and tell what he was feeling would be a major help going forward. Chise can only teach him so much after all... He was surprised when he looked up to see the child that had approached him and stared up at him. He was... confused... Why was this child here? Why were they able to withstand such a presence as himself. Elias tilted his head slightly to the side, almost like a puppy. He wasnât sure whether to be alarmed because there was a spry little duckling here, or curious because of the same fact. Why would anyone willingly approach him?
âAre you... Suppose to be in here?â
