Who’s the villain of your wip? I‘m playing around with fears, insecurities and christian beliefs in my wip, so there is no real antagonist. But if I had to pick, it would be the villagers and witch hunters, who condemn the MC out of fear and anger. Another morally grey figure would be Anne‘s (mc) father, but he isn‘t meant to be an antagonist either.

Honestly? I love sibling relationships. Perhaps it’s because my relationship with my brothers is so complicated and I just love seeing loving siblings… I love to write about siblings.

Storyteller Saturday!

I don’t technically have a true villain in One Siren’s Soul because the role is kinda shared/cycles around to a few different characters! Plus, no one is black and white evil or good, so in all honesty, the main protagonists could be called villains depending on what side you’re on.

In book one, Captain Io acts like the “bad guy” for a major portion of it, but then you find out that Rose has actually been manipulating her the entire time so! Really it’s Rose!

In book two, Captain Xuân initially starts out as the villain, but there’s... something funny going on, there. c; More genuinely, Captain Ryans would likely count more so as a small villain, but Rose reappears later on in the book and she still probably hits the top on the “evilness” scale.

And book three mostly focuses on The Scientist! But... is this person actually a villain? Not as much as one of the main four we’ve been following this entire time.

Captain Io and Celestine are the most notable contrast of book one. Seemingly emotionless, obsessed with efficiency and formality and honour, stubborn to a fault on one side vs. an emotional, disorganized and rude and manipulating thief, who’s adaptable to most things thrown her way on the other.

But Io becomes a main character in book two! She and Captain Ryans have been rivals since they were kids, and Ryans goes just... a bit too far on his side when they meet again as adults. They’re both very formal, but the pretentiousness and brash and unnecessary meanness of Ryans is very distinct from Io’s personality. She’s also had a lot of character development by this point, so there’s a lot else but those are spoilers~

My favorite relationship between OCs tend to gear towards platonic friendships! So, I really enjoy writing Aston - Aleks, Matija - Aleks, and Zephyr - Sage / Zephyr - Nyx! Writing soft things without romance is enjoyable, and is a nice break from it!

Oh god, I’ve had these characters so long and the story has changed so much, its kinda hard to pin down all the inspirations and whether or not they’re still relevant to this version of the story

But I’d say starting to play DnD had a huge impact on the current version and in the past I’d put down Watership Down, Plague Dogs and Felidae as big influences. I’m also super guilty of having daydreams to songs that then effect some developments [Makes note to make that a Spotify playlist]

Weirdly enough King Henry the VIII was an influence on Morrigan, I don’t remember exactly why, this was probably middle school at the time, but it was super important to me that Morrigan’s desire to have children wasn’t seen as a ‘soft’ or ‘good’ trait in her. She didn’t want a family she wanted heirs

Some Fun Meta Notes: 

Morrigan was probably the first OC I ever properly made when I was like 11 and was originally was a dog and supposed to be my deviantart fursona (Obvs she’s gone through massive changes)
