  Sex Vévé is an unbelievably raw and slinky slice of 1970s psychedelic funk by the great Congolese sax playing multi-instrumentalist Verckys and his l´Orchestre Vévé. Verckys Kiamuangana Mateta was eighteen when he joined Franco's OK Jazz, the premier band during the golden age of Congolese rumba which swept West African dancefloors in the 1960s. Verckys time in OK Jazz was only brief, and he left in 1968 to form Verckys et l´Orchestre Vévé, where he blended the local merengue, rumba and soukous with funk and afrobeat. James Brown dubbed him 'Mister Dynamite' after seeing him perform in Kinshasa in 1974, and the influence of the 'Soul Brother No. 1' is unmistakable on this track. It's from a new Verckys' compilation, Congolese Funk, Afrobeat & Psychedelic Rumba 1969​-​1978, from the peerless crate digger label, Analog Africa.
