NarrowLeaved Vervain Verbena simplex
Perfect species for rock gardens^
a species known for inhabiting reclamation sites at quarry’s in dirty dolomite, cliff breaks, slump prairies, gravel barrens, and even among rail road slag bridges. It thrives on hellscape and is great remediation species for mining super fund sites, and ultra compacted areas.
although I think I may have trespassed to access this site it was worth it due to seeing this strangely distributed species. My friend Bonnie just recently found one in her state of NJ where it is S1 imperiled, In Ohio it is super common at S3.
