Merry Christmas !! Here’s the first of I hope many Christmas posts (been on unannounced hiatus so I’m trying push them all out before it’s too late).
Modern!Venti x fem!reader
There is caroling, but reader isn’t explicitly stated to be Cristian or atheist.
“I can’t believe you’re making me do this.” You complained, pulling your very festive shawl tighter around you.
“I’m hardly making you. I just gently suggested it.” Venti said with a smile, rubbing your already mitten-covered hands to help warm you up.
“Yeah, but I wanna spend Christmas Eve with you. All of Christmas Eve.”
You said, earning a kiss right under the eye from him. You smiled and Dahlia made a gagging sound next to the two of you. He had been flipping through his folder, looking for a good Christmas carol to start with. “I came here to go caroling, not to feel extra single.” He complained sarcastically, eventually landing on Joy to the World.
Barbara, on the other side of Venti, smiled softly. “I think it’s cute. Very fitting for Christmas.” She said, earning another scoff from Dahlia.
“I’m already cold enough in this snowstorm, don’t make me colder.”
Venti has gathered some of his friends who he knew could sing, to go caroling on Christmas Eve. Not just classic church songs, but others, like Dashing Through the Snow, Jingle Bells, and Rocking Around the Christmas Tree.
You had been doing this for about an hour by now, and it was snowing harder and harder. The sheet music was getting soaked, the festive outfits you all were wearing were hardly keeping you warm, and too many people seemed to be avoiding answering the door.
“Just two more?” Venti asked as he held onto your arm, batting his eyelashes.
“Two more what?” You asked suspiciously, raising an eyebrow.
“Neighborhoods?”
“No way. Houses.”
“Streets.”
“Deal.”
After two more streets of caroling, you all said good bye and headed home. Venti kept humming as you two trudged through the snow. Years of no snow on Christmas, and finally, a snowstorm this year.
He pressed cute little kisses to warm up your numb lips, excitedly pulling you up the stairs of your condo building. He was still humming as you finally stepped into your small, festively decorated condo.
“If I hear you sing Santa Claus is Coming to Town one more time, I’m going to do something the will put me on the naughty list.” You said with a sigh, pulling off your scarf. “Like punch you. Or imagine it.”
“Aw, where’s my usual sweet Windblume?” Venti pouted, helping you take off your coat. He started to help you take off your top too, and you shot him a look. He held up his hands innocently, practically dancing into the kitchen. “I’m just saying. C’mon, I’ve been waiting for this all day.”
You sighed and followed him in, opening the fridge. You pulled out cookie dough and Venti visibly deflated. “We’re not making them from scratch?” He asked.
“We went caroling until 9:40, don’t push it.” You said and he shrugged, showing he didn’t really care that much.
“As long as I get to make cookies with my Windblume~” He said in a singsong tone, getting out the icing. Y
ou both made sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and even gingerbread ones. You were busy making the classic gingerbread man, when Venti let out an awkward mumble. You leaned over and saw a gingerbread woman, who looked like she had been melted, or been severely injured.
“It was…supposed to be you.” He said, that familiar smile playing on his lips, with a hint of sheepishness. You smiled and pressed a soft kiss to his neck.
“I appreciate it.”
You finally finished the cookies, setting them out on a plate with a glass of milk. Venti had tried to convince you to have a glass of eggnog instead, but the boy had drank it all with a few alcoholic additions. You knew it was silly to put out cookies for Santa as an adult, but you couldn’t help it. Traditions die hard.
Finally, you and Venti went to bed. Only you fell asleep though, your boyfriend sneaking out of bed to put a few extra presents under the tree.
You woke up the next morning, making breakfast with Venti and drinking hot cocoa while opening presents. You two had definitely spoiled each other. And he’d even gotten you a hot pot, after you complained about hot pot at restaurants being too expensive. You’d gotten him many things, but his favorite was three books of blank sheet music, all for him to fill up with new songs.
After watching the snow fall on the balcony, Venti came out and joined you. Though, he stayed on his phone most of the time. Eventually, you asked him about it and he smiled.
“Just setting up one last Christmas gift for you. Go get your coat on, Windblume.”
You raised an eyebrow but did what he asked. After a short drive, you arrived at a small farm. Your eyes widened. Reindeer feeding, all day, with hot cocoa and cute merch and everything! You got in line excitedly and Venti kept and arm wrapped around the small of your back.
“I thought you’d like this.” He said, a hint of his more serious but soft side peeking through. You smiled and nudged him, his laugh ringing out, breath visible in the cold air.
You walked forward, holding your hand out as one of the workers placed a few treats in your hand. “This one is Dasher.” The worker said, guiding you closer to the reindeer, arm draped where Venti’s was a second ago. The blue haired boy glared at the worker and her backed off awkwardly as you went up to feed the reindeer. The worker hadn’t really meant anything by it, but he didn’t wanna trifle with your short boyfriend.
“You people named them after Santa’s reindeer? Isn’t that a bit ridiculous out of season?” You asked, raising an eyebrow with a smile. You didn’t bother to hear the worker’s answer as Dashed started to ear out of your hand. It was slobbery, but also…really fucking cool. It felt special. Magical. Venti smiled, the soft curve of his lips matching your own.
“Merry Christmas, Windblume.”
