I just remembered this old post of mine and it hit me. I think the "generic" and "uncanniness" of these fanfics is due to the show's derivative nature and the tropes Bychance was designed around.
I haven't read the fanfics yet, so I'd love your thoughts on this question:
is the characterization of Chance and Will as characters similar/uncanny across all fanfics? Or are some of the backstory elements similar, but Will and Chance's personalities are different/differ across fanfics, from what you remember?
Because I may have Some Thoughts I'm trying to organize
