This beautiful building, which can be seen at first sight as bearing traces of Byzantine - Arabic and Medieval Italian architecture, is today used as the 'Museo Civico di Storia Naturale'. But it is still called 'Fondaco dei Turchi', as it was called in the previous centuries. The source of the name is 'Funduk' in Arabic; Hotel means a place to stay. As you guessed, its Turkish equivalent is 'hazelnut'. What do you think the connection might be?
