Kat asked me about why Velvitine’s horns look the way they do and originally it was just how I drew them I didn't really think about why but after I’ve been designing all the other dream demons and making their horns really true to real animals I’ve decided that Velvitine’s look the way they do due to all the starvation and malnutrition he delt with during his childhood coupled with his current overzealous feeding habits.
If he had a normal childhood and normal feeding habits his horns would look like the pic on the left as opposed to how they actually look on the right.
A lot of dream demon physiology is dependent on what you eat but also how you eat it. Dream demons look more human when they feed off human dreams and visaversa. Velvitine unfortunately spent a lot of his childhood eating animal bones and not much else so when he slips into peoples dreams he tends to either look entirely human or entirely ... not. He doesn't really have an in-between unlike most of his kind. His tendency to gorge on multiple people’s emotions at a time as well as draining people to depression levels also doesn't help.
