[ @walkeddeath ] gen > jonah : ā youāre not as bad as everyone says you are. ā
a ghost of a smile curls the right corner of his mouth, fingers gently brushing their blonde locks from their face to hook behind their ear. then trail along the edge of her jaw to the tip of her chin, tilting their head up so he can better see their beauty. noses bump affectionately as he rests his forehead to Genās. ā oh, shortstack . . . iām far worse. ā a kiss is pressed to their lips, possessive in his movements as he lays claim, easily guiding her smaller frame towards his office door. ā but never to you. ā words are whispered between another desperate kiss, a hand blindly searching for the knob.
ā i love you. ā then he gently pushes her through the open door & into Mattās arms. ā go straight home & iāll see you there soon. ā without giving her a second to fight back ā like he knows she will ā the door is closed softly before he turns back to his desk. Jonah is no idiot, he knows Alan has a plan for him tonight & heād rather Gen be as far away from this disaster as possible.
"i hate fish."
howl's moving castle, accepting !
brow arches at the statement, velma purses her lips as a few different thoughts push through her mind. " hm, okay. for eating or the species as a whole ? " she questions, although she's almost sure gen means as the food. she doesn't blame them, a lot of people don't like eating fish. the way it smells, looks, it's off putting to people. " cause as an animal they are highly intelligent and a very cool species but i can totally understand not liking eating them. i've never had sushi but i don't think i'd like it very much. do you like other seafood ? "

āāĀ ššš”š'āšššĀ ,Ā STARTERĀ CALL.āāobjectively,Ā itĀ could'veĀ beenĀ worse.Ā maybe.Ā they'dĀ beenĀ trippingĀ + Ā stumblingĀ aroundĀ aĀ versionĀ ofĀ starĀ cityĀ frozenĀ inĀ time Ā forĀ whatĀ feltĀ likeĀ centuriesĀ -Ā theĀ cityĀ wasĀ holdingĀ it'sĀ breath,Ā butĀ itĀ wasĀ stillĀ on.Ā streetlightsĀ hummedĀ inĀ misplacedĀ silenceĀ exceptĀ theĀ noiseĀ didn'tĀ carryĀ right.Ā noĀ soundĀ did.Ā breathingĀ rangĀ tooĀ loud,Ā footstepsĀ feltĀ swallowed,Ā voicesĀ echoedĀ butĀ theyĀ wereĀ faint Ā ... Ā notĀ quiteĀ real.Ā itĀ feltĀ curated.Ā someoneĀ hadĀ comeĀ inĀ +Ā editedĀ outĀ allĀ theĀ littleĀ thingsĀ thatĀ didn'tĀ matterĀ - Ā noĀ trash,Ā noĀ decay,Ā noĀ randomness.Ā justĀ selectiveĀ detail.
THEREĀ WASĀ NOĀ WAYĀ OUT.Ā aĀ stairwellĀ droppedĀ intoĀ aĀ storefrontĀ threeĀ blocksĀ over.Ā aĀ maintenanceĀ doorĀ openedĀ intoĀ anĀ apartmentĀ that Ā didnātĀ existĀ fromĀ theĀ outside.Ā glassĀ doubleĀ doorsĀ thatĀ shouldāveĀ ledĀ toĀ theĀ streetĀ foldedĀ themĀ backĀ insideĀ somewhereĀ elseĀ entirelyĀ - Ā sameĀ city,Ā differentĀ layout.Ā thingsĀ stayedĀ untilĀ theyĀ didn'tĀ -Ā doorsĀ moved,Ā streetsĀ disappeared,Ā buildingsĀ seeminglyĀ generatedĀ outĀ ofĀ thinĀ air.Ā STARĀ CITYĀ RESETĀ ITSELFĀ SLOWLY.Ā likeĀ itĀ wasĀ keepingĀ her Ā +Ā @vei1sĀ withinĀ aĀ versionĀ ofĀ itselfĀ thatĀ onlyĀ madeĀ senseĀ toĀ theĀ personĀ playingĀ godĀ withĀ theirĀ lives.Ā theyĀ wereĀ basicallyĀ sims.
ā Ā areĀ youĀ fuckingĀ kiddingĀ meĀ ?Ā āĀ itĀ wasĀ theĀ firstĀ thingĀ toĀ comeĀ fromĀ herĀ inĀ overĀ twentyĀ minutes.Ā someĀ daysĀ wereĀ betterĀ thanĀ others. Ā thereĀ wereĀ timesĀ whereĀ itĀ feltĀ likeĀ theyĀ knewĀ theĀ rules,Ā thatĀ theyĀ movedĀ easilyĀ throughĀ theĀ city.Ā +Ā thenĀ thereĀ wereĀ daysĀ likeĀ theĀ oneĀ theyĀ wereĀ currentlyĀ trappedĀ in.Ā daysĀ whereĀ theĀ rulesĀ changedĀ everyĀ twoĀ minutesĀ +Ā everyĀ unlockedĀ doorĀ broughtĀ themĀ backĀ toĀ theĀ start.Ā āĀ itĀ reset.Ā we'reĀ backĀ atĀ theĀ frontĀ door.Ā ā
@vei1sĀ Ā Ā Ā Ā ...Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā sentĀ Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ...Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā "do you have any healthy coping mechanisms, by any chance?"
it's been two weeks since he was released from hospital, his leg is still in a brace, arm in a sling. he's lost count of the bandages and cuts that cover his body. he hasn't looked in a mirror in almost a month; not out of shame, but grief. a terrible lonely grief.
being back home he feels like a ghost. looking at the unused workout equipment in the corner by the door that he isn't sure he'll get to use again. a cookbook he had bought a week before the accident, now unsure if he has the strength to even lift his arms.
his therapist told him to keep busy, he knows he needs to call him back. he's been putting off making an appointment. despite being off work buck has tried to keep himself occupied. he's gone through as many books as he can and now he's moved onto sorting an unnamed pile of paperwork that's been sitting untouched in their office for months.
an empty redbull can is on the coffee table, a cold coffee next to it. he can't remember the last time he ate but the pain medication makes his appetite vanish anyways.
the sun is fading fast, buck knows he should get up and turn a light on but the thought of getting up makes him cringe. he's comfortable, somewhat, sitting on the ground propped up against the couch. he hears the front door open, keys in the dishes. it's a couple minutes before he feels the couch dip behind him. gen's words are soft but they make his stomach twist.
he looks up, guilt evident in his expression. "i was told to keep busy", he mumbled. "i'm trying to you know," he picked up a stack of papers he was still going through, "keep my mind occupied." he pauses for a moment turning his gaze back to the papers in his hands, "i don't want to look at more insurance papers or hospital forms. i'm tired of being treated like a patient."
