there were some conversations in life you could avoid. conversations with your mother about a shitty reality television show offer was one of them, conversations with your roommate about the argument you'd had was another. conversations with the girl you'd just had date night with and wasn't texting you? that was a situation needing some attendance to, and faster than emma could roam the god-u campus in search of tai. (with each step, she can sense the flames erupting getting closer behind her feet.)
the honest-to-god truth is: she sucks at this whole romance thing. she has always has and presumes she always will, given by the lack of enthusiasm post-date by the other. a netflix movie date night, the dorm's lights dimmed, perfectly popped buttered-popcorn and even a candle lit in the background for the extra layer of sensuality. but [it seemed] to no avail, with emma not even receiving a single text from her after. this was driving her insane. [she'd already lost hours of sleep over this, tossing and turning, earning multiple groans from marie throughout the night.] so, she needed to get this over withβ if tai wanted to reject her, emma needed the answer point blank. synonymous to ripping a bandage off, she just needs to save her heart from shattering into a million pieces.
emma's not sure how she does it, but she spots herβ spots taissa in a fucking tree, of course. textbook up to her face, nose wrinkling as she concencratesβ fuck, this was not the time nor the place, emma! stop thinking about how cute she is and get the fuck in there! nut up or shut up! her right hand is raised up to her forehead, giving her eyes a level of protection from the sunlight as she approaches. once she's able to make out taissa's silhouette through the branches, emma clears her throat.
β heyβ tai, hey! can we talk down here? orrrrrr... should i climb up there? β the blonde gestures widely at the tree as if she's a fish out of water, flailing to be put back where she belongs. flailing to be saved. [sometimes she felt like it, and this was one of those moments.]
