⭐ Talk to me about any section of a fic that you're dying to talk to someone about. Writing is my sport and I would LOVE to hear anything about it.
Also, tell me about the way you wrote Jok for "A Little Help." I love the switch from "Joker" to "Nikola;" what was the inspiration behind that?
There's a scene I wrote recently that I can't talk about because it's right at the near of my latest Mal/Jok/AG fic which is being posted onto ao3 bit by bit. So we'll park that one 😁
I've always been fond of the dialogue in the penultimate chapter of "Mine" after Jok & CB have had their "come to Jesus" moment and CB starts to lose his marbles by Jok acting normal afterwards. Jok then goes into "ok you want to talk about this more? let's talk about this more" and nearly sends CB into system shut-down. "Mine" is the second Nuggets fic I wrote (altho I went back and added the last chapter a little bit later) but felt like I was really starting to click in understanding how to write Jok in a way that matched to traits in him that I like. Being a bit pedantic, funny in both a teasing and silly way.
This section tickles me even now:
“I am a lot. A lot to deal with. It’s - it gets to be too much.”
“Jok.” CB dropped his hands to his lap, half-whispered “Are you saying your dick is huge?”
A great wheezing laugh erupted. Giggling helplessly, Jok lifted both hands over his face, shoulders shaking. CB watched with growing indignation.
“Jok.” CB hissed.
Jok dropped his hands halfway down his face. He was an alarming pink, still giggling. He fought through his hysteria for a half leer, incapable of letting the opportunity for a joke pass by “I have no complaints.”
“You’ve no complaints???”
“I’m not talking about my dick Christian.” Jok waved his hand around in a choppy motion, and CB rapidly tried to re-orient the conversation.
“So - you’re a lot?”
Another helpless giggle
Re: "A Little Help", because it's set in nearly present day, and there's no major alternate backstory like a fair chunk of my other Jok/Mal fic, it was very much "write him as he is" and just anchor it in the relationship with Mal. I was inspired by the "only one of us gets angry at a time" info, so that helped ground that Jok stayed relatively even tempered throughout, because Mal was the one pinging all over the place. I also really enjoyed writing their non-verbal communication the last chapter of "Super", which I'd finished right before "A Little Help", and wanted to play around in that swimming pool for a bit longer. So it became fun to use non-verbal body language as they talked. I watch full games when the Nuggets are playing plus lots of media so there's a gold-mine of tics and mannerisms I draw inspiration from.
The transition from Joker to Nikola was Jamal crossing into a slightly more vulnerable state during their conversation, and dropping the mental barrier he has enacted through use of the nickname. The thing that made him shift was Jok rubbing his hand up and down Mal's back and Mal, being touch-starved, having a strong reaction to it. The eagle-eyed will notice that Jok spots the reaction. It's part of the evidence trail Jok follows that makes him end up deciding that, yes, Mal needs "A little help." And not long after Jok has his epiphany about who can. I don't recall any specific inspiration for writing it that way other than wanting to demonstrate a mental flip from being at a slight remove to not.
Top 5 Jokic pictures? (also why if you feel like it)
Ooh great question! And I'll always take the opportunity to rave about my boy so I will say why 😊
Just smile at each other fondly...
Denver Nuggets | Regular Season Game 4 (29.10.2025)
Top spot 1 is probably cheating as it's moving images but please see this god-tier gifset from our one and only hary, which captures so well the fondness between Jok and Mal. Pretty sure I include a homage to Mal's look here in every JokMal I've written
Babushka Jokic. I love this one so much it's on my ao3 profile. I just love when he does the towel hoodie thing. Like Nikola.. you're wearing a hoodie? Endlessly tickled by it.
This was after the 2025 christmas game where he somehow cut his hair inbetween the game and fronting up with media. He looked so young and his eyes so big and colourful. Direct inspiration for my JokAG fic "Through every path", probably the schmoopiest thing I've written yet.
Technically two images but I'm in charge so I be cheating. Another sickingly cute JokMal moment. Nikola gave Mal the ol' purple knurple during the team huddle and Mal was both immensely annoyed and finding it hilarious. CINEMA
PWat gives us a real life homage to the infamous meme image of Jok-with-durag-and-cigs. The fact we got this image and then didn't go on to win everything proves this is the bad place.
steven adams: *complaining*
jok: *evil smirking*
Denver Nuggets | Regular Season Game 15 (21.11.2025)
Bonus answer: Nikola completely unable to contain his glee about getting a foul call and trying SOOO hard to pull Steven Adams' pigtails about it
I'm on ao3, user schmoesjoe, I reference it in my tumblr header as well if you ever need to re-find in future 🙂
All my works are archive-locked as I have no patience for dealing with bots, but I've usually got invites available if anyone's stuck waiting for access. Just DM me off anon if you need.

TBH, I'm interested in asking all of these questions:
How do you feel about the first fanfiction you ever wrote and posted?
Describe your writing style in three words or terms.
What's your favorite pairing to write for?
What pairing would you like to write but never have?
How long did it take you to write “A little help?”
What inspired you to write “Mine?”
What is your favorite part of “Different Means?”
What was the hardest about writing “A little help?”
What was the most fun while writing “Super?”
Tell us a random fun fact about, or easter egg you have hidden in one of your fics.
What are your favorite three fics that you wrote and why?
My answers are always long and there'll be 11 of these 😂 So popping it under the cut!
How do you feel about the first fanfiction you ever wrote and posted? This would be "Oh, little butterfly" which is my Nikola/Luka fic. Until I stumbled across and became creatively inspired by Jokic and the Nuggets (great band name) I'd only written original fiction, and sparing amounts at that, particularly as an adult. I find having creative energy while working full-time very challenging. I still like this fic, particularly capturing the mental disorientation of Luka's response to the infamous trade. I do like how I was able to weave real-life moments into the text, which I've kept doing and is one of the funner things about RPF (altho the research can drive me barmy). You can also tell I was getting warmed up because even though explicit it's less graphic than my more recent works. It remains my most popular fic hits-wise, and was kudos-wise until being de-throned by "A little help". I assume that's down to the popularity of Luka.
Describe your writing style in three words or terms: Emotional. Pedantic. Em dashes for the Gods.
What's your favorite pairing to write for? Right now it's Jok/Mal, which is funny, because for awhile there I had NO clue how to write them in a non-platonic sense and then one day it just clicked. It's extremely fun writing them being on even footing, very fond of each other, able to push each other's buttons. Bonus answer is I do still have a soft spot for the Jok/AG pairing from "In the sun" series, I dialed back my fuck boy characterisation for AG a little bit there and it's probably the sweetest Jok I've written too, hence me often saying it's the schmoopiest thing I've written.
What pairing would you like to write but never have? I don't have one currently. When the muse gets going I follow it pretty quickly. Jok/Mal would have been the answer here until I finally tripped into it with "All star madness" and well, since then, look upon my ao3 works ye mighty and despair
How long did it take you to write “A little help?” 90% sure this one was a one and done - I got inspired by their anniversary interview. Take the knowing each other so well then throw the sexual tension on top. So from memory I wrote the whole thing in one go (this would have taken a few hours), did my usual multiple edit sweeps and then bam.
What inspired you to write “Mine?” CB coming into the season with even more intense "Be like Jok" vibes, he was skirting the edge of single white female level obsession, all true examples of which I included in the fic. Then he got injured for pretty much the first time which is always a good drama source.
What is your favorite part of “Different Means?” The entire nightclub scene which is just "Nikola tries to see how much he can get away with" and Jamal trying desperately not to be turned on. I enjoyed playing around with how an older version of the Nikola and Jamal from "Super" would interact with each other. Already co-dependent as hell then Jamal gets injured? Watch out. The future-glimpse I gave of them in the last chapter of "Super" included a reference about how Nikola always acts like he's the lucky one when he's doing exactly what Jamal wants, and that pretty much drove their characterisation for me into both follow-ups "Different means" and "Clever boy".
What was the hardest about writing “A little help?” I don't think I struggled writing any part of this one, it didn't require any heavy-lifting plot scenes (my nemesis) and my muse was still singing post "Super"
What was the most fun while writing “Super?” The scene when Jamal finally makes it to Denver and he and Nikola reunite at the Ball Arena court. I'd planned the callback to "Ball upset you?" from the very beginning, and I'd been just as annoyed by separating them as they were to be, so the what-if tension then relief of that scene was great to write. Codependency for the win!
Tell us a random fun fact about, or easter egg you have hidden in one of your fics: I scatter real life facts through all my fics, I suppose they could be seen as easter eggs? In "Super" I made a glancing reference to KAT being at the Nike Hoop Summit at the same time Jamal and Nikola were, that was another research "Aaah" moment that made even more real-life things make sense when you see how friendly these three always are
What are your favorite three fics that you wrote and why? I think this answer changes over time as the more I write the more my favorites shift. I also tend to like certain scenes in different fics and have them as favourites. If I take a fic as a whole, right now it's probably "A little help" (I liked the know-each-other-so-well tension), "Different means" (loved continuing on the relationship from "Super"), and "Through every path" (for the schmoopiness).
I'm reading your latest fic. You need to join me in vampire AU land, I tell you what 😁
Ha this is the second time I've been encouraged to write vampires in response to my latest (chompy) chapter. I DID have fun playing around with ABO tropes, it's the whole "mating bite" thing then strung out to biting being a release / marking factor. Once you've written enough sex scenes you really start to double-down on both what the scene is saying about the characters and trying to keep it interesting, not just Tab A in Slot B, and I found half the fun of ABO was it adding some more tools to the writing toolkit. Variety is the spice of life etc.
I currently have zero (0) ideas writing with vampires, and your Vampire fics remain too dark for me (I ain't going within a mile of a non-con tag and the Nuggets boys). But I always have a "ideas to consider" list humming away on the back-burner to draw inspiration from when the muse is singing. Some things make it off there into reality and some never do, but I keep an eye on it!
The nice shiny metal parts of the lamp on my home office desk that makes the room feel cosy when it starts to get dreary and cold in winter
My main fidget spinner (also on my home office desk), it's one of those metal cubes with another spinny smaller cube inside it. You can hold the larger cube by the corners and spin the innards. Very satisfying.
A small metal flower brooch that I painstakingly saved up and bought out of a mail catalogue as a present for my nan when I was little, and she was very proud of wearing. My parents were at best indifferent about my gifts for them, whether handmade or bought, whereas my nan received everything with joy and pride. My nan has long left us, and the brooch is now with me.
My glasses (not completely silver, but enough to count). I'd be blind without them. There's a tumblr post floating out there that I've reblogged a few times about how I wouldn't know if rasputin was hanging out on my ceiling fan if my glasses were off
