The Kalanoro is a cryptid said to live on the island of Madagascar. It is described as a humanoid creature with hooked claws, backwards-facing toes, and spines running down their backs. They stand no more than two feet high, and subsist on a diet of vegetables, grain and raw fish.
Kalanoro have been accused of kidnapping children, and are said to possess some magical ability. Some herbalists in Madagascar claim that powders infused with Kalanoro hair can grant mystical powers. Certain Madagacan tribes call the Kalanoro "Kotoky" or "Vazimba."
