From the journals of the Last Gunslinger of Zakuul:
They were called the Gunslingers, but that isn’t really the whole story. They would take up whatever weapon would do the job, and I did the same in my youth.
Briefly.
The fact is that without absurdly specific training to the weapon, a lightsaber is worse than useless. It’s defenses are only usable by one who can predict the future, and even a slight error can leave the user missing limbs. My reflexes are certainly on a Jedi’s level, possibly superior, but I simply stopped feeling that connection they, and to an extent even the Sith, have, and that can be fatal with their weapons.
Honestly, though, why would I want to use one? A weapon that cuts through anything. Unless it has a force field. Or cortosis. Or is a Jedi with a force trick.
Or Father.
No, I’ll stick with my blasters. And explosives. And swing lines. And, perhaps most importantly, a stun setting. I like the choices they give me.
It does make me look dashing in my long coat, though.
