Kathleen grew up skiing the Alps in Germany then came to the USA for college. She dabbled in triathlon (completing 2 ironman) and competitive cycling but once she stumbled upon ultra running, she was hooked. Kathleen and her husband, John recently returned from a 3 year round-the-world tour which consisted of three main goals: explore the world, physically challenge themselves through adventure, and volunteer their respective public health and veterinary medicine skills to local communities. A few highlights from abroad include: providing medical care for an animal shelter in Thailand, raising money for education in Nepal, trail running in the Alps and Pyrenees, and spending 4 months providing animal welfare education, as well as animal livestock health care, in Malawi. Kathleen and John, along with their teammate Seth Wolpin, also became the first team to cross all five technical high passes on the Great Himalaya Trail, without porter support, finishing in 87 days.

Home Base: New York State's Capital Region

Erik has logged more than 15,000 miles hiked, 2,000 peaks climbed, and 1,000 nights camped outside and now concentrates his efforts on the Adirondack Mountains of New York.  A few of his Adirondack highlights include hiking the Northville Placid Trail four times, thru-hiking the Trans Adirondack Route, traversing the 270-mile High Peaks Wilderness Area trail system; summiting the 100 highest peaks during winter, and climbing the range's 217 peaks above 3,000 feet. Erik is the author of Thru Hiker's Guide to America, Blue Line to Blue Line, History Inside the Blue Line, My Adirondacks, Among the Cloud Splitters, and Cradle of the Union.

Krissy Moehl is an ultramarathon runner, coach, author, public speaker and race director. In her 17-year career, she has run more than 100 races. She has 55 female wins and 2 outright wins. Moehl’s impressive track record boasts first female finishes at the world’s toughest ultras including Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc 165km, Ultra Trail du Mont Fuji 100 mile, HURT 100, Hardrock 100 and several others. Moehl hails from the Pacific Northwest and after many moves once again calls Bellingham home. Her book, Running Your First Ultra (launched December 2015), shares her years of experience and aims to build the ultra community from the sport’s roots.

I started running during a military deployment in the fall of 2014 as a way to improve my overall health. Having never ran over six miles in my entire life, I ran a half-marathon with two months of training and one month later, I ran a full marathon. My passion for running longer distances began to grow and I ran my first 50k trail race three months after returning to the United States where I placed 1st. Since then, I have placed in the top 3 of five 50k races, three 50 mile races and one 100 mile race, including winning a Golden Ticket to Western States 100.
