WIP INTRODUCTION: THE AGE OF CARNOCUS
genre: sci-fi, horror, dystopia, dark fantasy, speculative biology (yes. all of the above)
status: planning/drafting
type: novel series and worldbuilding project
In the near future, an alien has taken over the earth. With it, come its monstrous servants: amalgamations of flesh and bone. Desperate in this new world, people worship the alien as a god named Carnocus, and it gives them a gift: the ability to create their own amalgamations, but only if they eat raw human meat first. Centuries later, a theocracy hides the true nature of the gift, pretending that it is given only to a select few chosen by god. Only those who know how to activate the power have it, and thus only those part of the Clergy government have control. Yet, despite its already immense power, the Clergy wants more. A group of aspiring scientists is assembled at an academy that studies the gift. Their mission, as established by the Clergy, is to expand upon this gift and learn how to manipulate living tissue. As the students do their jobs, danger creeps up from the network of dungeons beneath them. Past Clergy experiments walk and talk, and Carnocus' own creatures sneak inside. Among them is a serial killer who can do what the Clergy cannot. As the students unravel the depths of Clergy conspiracy and of their own abilities, they must grapple with the question of what to tell and what to hide.
ahhh I love this project so much, I've been working on it for a while now and it is my current main project. It very much reflects my love for both horror and science, and explores themes of unethical experimentation, the concept of "the greater good", and more!
Featuring enemies to lovers, found family, haunted houses, and made up creatures.
Inspired by a variety of my favorite media, including NBC Hannibal, The Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir, and Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.
Ask to be added/removed from taglist! I hope to be posting more soon, thanks for reading! Moodboard made using Canva with images found on Pinterest.

WRITEBLR RE-INTRO
Hello! I am a 18 year old Ukrainian-American writer who is coming back to running this blog. My pen name keeps changing but currently I'm going by the pen name "Vasyl Veles" on here, Vas for short.
My original posts are tagged as "#vas's posts". Most of my reblogs are queued. I am open to and love participating in tag and ask games!
I tend to write in the horror, sci-fi, and dark fantasy genres. I am a big fan of using dark aspects of fiction to explore intellectual themes, and enjoy writing a lot about nature, science, and queer experiences. I also loveee speculative biology. I write both short stories and novels, and am not yet published (but currently submitting stories to some writing competitions, wish me luck!).
Other than writing, I am also a big fan of goth, industrial, and metal music, and am passionate about science and mathematics. I also greatly enjoy DIY and art, and hope to post some of those projects on here in addition to writing.
General Taglist (message to be added or removed): @euphoniouspandemonium @theglitchywriterboi
works in progress:
My battle vest that I made over a year ago, at the end of sophomore year! I decided to finally post it.
It's got a few imperfections and I never decided what to do for the top back panel, but overall I am still very proud of it.
The flannel was from a thrift shop, the patch fabric was an old pair of jeans, and I used homemade stencils and acrylic paint for the patches!

CHARACTERS - THE AGE OF CARNOCUS
So I've been gradually posting character profiles for the protagonists from "The Age of Carnocus", but that is taking a little while so here are all of them together in the meantime! All of them are students at the Academy of Amalgamation.
From right to left, top to bottom...
Valentina Crawford
Ezra Aorta (profile here)
Quinn Aorta (Profile here)
Colette Krovchuk (profile here)
Lysander Krovchuk (profile here)
Micah Marric (profile here)
Avila Moreno
Lada Miako
Amara
I love them all very much! They all are the POV characters, but not all the POVs are equally distributed... for example, Micah is narrating a huge chunk of the story, while Valentina not so much.
I used the "Makowka Picrew" to create these images, as well as Canva to arrange the images.
Thanks for reading!!!
LAST LINE TAG
Thank you to @fleurtygurl for the tag!!! See her post here.
Rules: post the last sentence you wrote in your WIP and tag as many of your followers as there are words in the sentence.
This is from "God Syndrome", the first book in "The Age of Carnocus" (WIP intro here).
The blood he had rubbed into his feet froze, crusting his legs in red snow.
15 words so 15 tags... no pressure to participate!

CHARACTER INTRO: QUINN
name: Quinn Aorta
story+role: One of the protagonists of "The Age of Carnocus"
basic info: 18 years old, pronouns are he/him
A bartender and a well-known amalgamation contest winner, Quinn really looks like his sister's twin. Together, they dazzle Karniv in their expensive clothes and shock the public with their sadistic tendencies, running from party to party. But Quinn knows the unsafe nature of this fame. While Ezra plays, he plans a way out. The quieter of the two, Quinn's eccentric character isn't a disguise for insecurity like it is for Ezra. For him, it is a part of his plan to get revenge on the people who have hurt him and his sister. Among his cocktails stand bottles of poison, and in his cabinet are toxicology textbooks. Despite being tied at the hip, Quinn does not understand Ezra and her lack of ambition. As the Clergy's secrets begin to unravel at the academy, Quinn decides to take advantage and try to save Ezra from both the clergy and herself.
Ugh I love the Aorta twins and their messed up relationship!!! Quinn is both sooo similar to Ezra and simultaneously the opposite. I love them both.
