Yelv had no idea how theymade it back to his door. At some point, the drizzle picked up again, the cold,wet air startling them into a run that lasted all the way to the corner room ofthe market that Yelv had commandeered to his own use. He’d lead Silvawordlessly through the back alleys, crossing the empty main street in ahalf-run, but most of the restaurants on the concourse had closed hoursearlier, and they hadn’t seen let alone ran into anyone.

All the way back, Silvahadn’t let go of his hand, allowing Yelv to pull him along without a word ofprotest. His skin was warm to touch and it was the entire reminder Yelv neededto keep his thought corralled into focusing on getting them back.

He’d finally let go as Yelvwas fumbling with the key card to let them inside, and now he was standing inthe middle of the single room “apartment”, arms wrapped around himself andlooking around with sleepy curiosity.

Yelv’s still very drunkbrain reminded him that there was something he should be saying.

“Take off your clothes.”
