okay heres the thing though is how come the jugular vein is the end all be all place for vampires to drink from. like the jugular vein is carrying deoxygenated blood back towards the heart and lungs. the blood in there is gonna taste worse. It's more acidic from all the carbon dioxide, its got more waste products in it, and moreover the blood flow is mediated more by bodily muscle contractions than the actual pumping of the heart.
I'm just saying, the carotid artery is the way to go. its carrying oxygenated blood pumped from the heart so the blood is warmer, less acidic, and it's got more glucose so it'll be sweeter. I mean come on.
Put your fingers to your neck and find your pulse. That feeling? That thumping of life in your neck? That's your carotid. Sure, it's a bit deeper than the jugular, might require a bit more coordination to sink teeth into, but you can't tell me that isn't what any self-respecting vampire would be going for.
