All that glitters isn’t gold, in fact, the prettiest things happen to be diamonds. Juliette Diamond was born 1866 to George and Lissette Diamond. Her mother died, unfortunately, during childbirth. There was little time for George to grieve, now being a single father and running his new mining business in South Africa. It was George, amongst few other explorers, that came across the first diamonds in the area. Quick to jump on the economic opportunity, George relocated himself and a three month old Juliette to the British Cape Colony. The two lived in a spacious mansion with many servants, the results of George’s uncanny luck. Each day, Juliette would be babysat by an employed village woman, Kiya while her father relentlessly dug for his fortune.

During her times with Kiya, Juliette’s head was filled with local stories. She grew to see Kiya as a motherly figure, recognizing a sense of home whenever the woman was around. Although her father was rarely seen, Juliette tried to maintain her relationship with him. She was, after all, the heiress to a fortune he was building. Life in Colonel South Africa was difficult, however Juliette was never exposed to the war and poverty outside of her mansion walls. She was forbidden by Kiya and George to leave the property. Juliette couldn’t help but wonder what was going on in the outside world, it was itching at her. Fourteen and bold, the blond finally escape out of Kiya’s watchful gaze.

What Juliette found surprised her. On the rubble street, an empire was forming. Buildings created a small fortress are the Cape, and the town was flourishing. Juliette couldn’t comprehend why she’d be locked away in the Diamond household for so ages. Walking down those street, she finally had a sense of freedom. As Juliette slipped back into the house, she was caught by a furious Kiya.The older woman warned the blonde about monsters that lurked the street, saying that she would be a dead girl if she was caught after midnight. For her next outing, Juliette was much more careful, sneaking out after Kiya had gone to bed… however she always made sure to come home before the clock struck twelve. Something about Kiya’s threat rang true to her.

When Juliette turned eighteen, she was due to return to England. Her father had found a wealthy suitor, figuring that it was time for his daughter to get married. On her last night in Cape Town, Juliette ventured out into the abyss of South Africa. She was a daring girl, unhappy about her circumstance. Juliette didn’t see herself as a bride-to-be, she wanted adventure in her life. So caught up in her own thoughts, she didn’t notice the time. As Juliette walked around, two men grabbed her from behind. She screamed, but the noise was muffled. Talks of ‘potential’ and ‘covens’ were in the air, Juliette was confused and scared.

She woke up to darkness, and a fire in her stomach. A woman introduced herself as Ainya, explaining exactly what had happened to Juliette . Ainya’s coven was in desperate need of recruitment, and the eighteen year old was in the wrong place and the wrong time. She had been forcibly turned into a vampire. Juliette laughed the idea off, calling it stupid and improbably, until Ainya brought up the thirst. Thrown a gourd of blood, Juliette was disgusted, but as time passed, she dared to drink. She’d come to realize what she was: a monster, a creature of the night. Frightened, Juliette ran to the Diamond residence. She was crying, blood dripping down her chin, when Kiya found her. Juliette found no warm embrace from the woman, instead, Kiya screamed. She said Juliette was possessed by the devil, that she needed to be freed. Kiya ran towards the blond with a knife; Juliette tried to stop her, but her new found strength kicked in. There, dying on the floor, was her maternal figure. Death on her hands, Juliette disappeared into the night.

Ever since, Juliette has been on the run. She’s survived by adapting to the decades, and being nothing more than a shadow to the world. Two weeks ago, she found a home in Yarrow Point. Juliette heard inklings about covens being located in the area, and she yearns for a permanent residence. The memories of her old life are still etched in her mind, Juliette still feels guilty for abandoning her father and the death of Kiya.
