The part Val comes from "Valen"

"Valen" means numb/lethargic/listless and: battlefield. Though in regard to battlefields it is usually used for: "the battlefield after the battle" (though it can mean before too, dependson context).

After battles you feel numb.

Valmue makes opiods. They make you numb.
