"never seen you around these parts before,” val spoke up, sitting up as madelyne walked into frigga’s. she’d been sat at her favorite seat at the bar and had been boldly deciding that today was the day to see where her limits of holding mead would be. she hadn’t found it yet. nor did she feel it. to be a god, or god-adjacent, she supposed. holding up her drink, she invited the other to join her at the bar. “thor’s gone around back, i believe to get some more restocks but i can help you .” she offered, raising a brow and turning to lean over the bar to count what thor had out and open. “plenty of drinks, yeah.”

“can i be honest?“ val asked as she peered into the sterile lab of reed richards, keeping her gaze locked onto her ‘partner’ for this... whatever it was as he attempted to gain the giant eyeball’s attention. “this wasn’t exactly how i expected my day to go - then again, no one really counts for facing off with a dimensional eyeball with tentacles, do they?” she raised a brow as she whistled at the being, raising her sword and coming down hard onto some fairly expensive looking equipment. “you think this scientist who owns the place will be mad if we make a few alterations?” when the creature turned to face her, val smirked at it and prepared herself to take a swing at one of the tentacles. “you think they’ll grow back if we cut a few off?” she shrugged, in truth - it really couldn’t hurt to try, right? plus logan seemed game for whatever.

she had been ruminating on the fact that gorm was gone - she could have prevented it. seen the signs, fought the fight - but she didn’t and hindsight was a raging bitch. still, she sought comfort from the one who understood most about their way of life - the former king himself. she’d entered frigga’s thinking she was alone and sighed at not spotting thor. so val did what she was good at. moving behind the bar she opened a cask of what she assumed was mead but not caring very much if it really was or not - and took a large swig. she’d pay the god of thunder back, anyhow. “you’re late,” she remarked once she spotted him enter, her voice clear of jovial humor as she leaned against the bar top. “i want to talk with you.”

it was a little earlier than the proposed time that carol had stated for their dinner - six thirty, to be exact. she wasn’t nervous in any sense of the word, nor did she mind the wait - after all, frigga’s had become a particular haunt for her and she was certain thor wouldn’t dare try to kick her out. still, she wondered what got into the god of thunder’s mind to decorate the place in balloons. grabbing one, she admired it for a moment before popping it - watching as the air quickly deflated and as the rounded plastic orb decreased in size, a particularly welcomed face appeared on the other side of it. “fancy seeing you here,” she chimed, smiling brightly as she dropped the dead balloon to the floor, “we can always go somewhere else, but i figured this... weirdly decorated bar, could work for the time being. food’s not actually half bad, but don’t tell thor that.”

she was shouting she was covered in the filth of a particularly hard-won battle - and she was frightened. anyone who knew valkyrie knew that she didn’t often wear her emotions on her sleeves - that she was rather fond to repress them down deeply under a heavily filled bottle of mead, or wine, or beer... or anything harder than that. and yet, here she stood outside the gates of the killiseum over the body of a once known asgardian - few of their kind. “i didn’t do this, i wouldn’t do this - you’ve got to believe me. he was gorm, a good man - i didn’t even know he was here...” her rage and fear quickly turned to the hushed whisper of regret and remorse.

“well, you’re certainly not an asgardian but you’ve got the build.“ valkyrie dangled her sword at her side as she looked the other person over. she can sense by his emotional output that he might not be open to random banter - but who was she if not someone to push buttons at times? “how come i’ve not seen you toss a few fodder around in the killing ring? have i just not been around on the right days?” she raised a brow and brought up her sward to sling it over her shoulder, resting it gently against her back. “i’m valkyrie, or val, or king val - any of the above combination works.”

she pursed her lips, clearly finding the woman before her attractive but being wise enough to know about her reputation. from what she’d heard emma frost was as cunning as she was beautiful and twice as dangerous. normally a personality that wouldn’t repel valkyrie but she knew she’d need to at least keep up with some sort of standards here. still, a little flirting and ‘getting to know’ wouldn’t hurt anyone, right? “oh, i’ve heard of you - a queen in your own right, yeah?” she asked, tilting her head and offering a cheeky smile. “it’s nice to meet another somebody on the same level as me - or was as me, i suppose.”

“oh yeah, ‘course.” valkyrie sighed heavily as she exited the battlefield and caught the glimpse of the annoying god. “should’ve known you’d crawl back from the land of the dead once more to make thor question is sanity. won’t work on me, remember the last time you tried?” she asked, a smirk on her lips as she put her sword down with a clang onto the table to await to be cleaned. ignoring loki for the moment, she began to strip and change into her comfortable clothing before finally addressing him with her hands on her hips. “alright, out with it - what can i do for you, loki?”
