The subtle morning light filtered through the curtains of his apartment. It was very early, despite having the day off; he had gotten up early to go for a walk now that he was alone.
Or at least that's what he thought.
A scent...That scent, his ears perked up as he smelled it, his tail began to twitch slightly and a smile spread across his face without even hearing that someone had arrived at the house. She liked to give him surprises, but due to his great intuition, she never succeeded.
This time he would let her do it.
Footsteps came close enough to be heard
"Surprise!" A feminine voice shouted in celebration. “I'm here!”
Valko turned around, his eyes wide, and broke into a bigger smile. “My love!” He opened his arms to take the girl, whose name was Karma, in his arms. He lifted her up and spun her around several times, receiving her hugs in return.
“Hello, wolfie.” The girl greeted him with a kiss, taking the opportunity to start caressing him behind the ears.
“No, my love, don't start doing that…” At the same time as he said that, the boy unconsciously began to wag his tail rapidly from side to side.
“Did you miss me?” The young woman laughed, squeezing his face and letting go, then continued hugging him.
“A lot.” The red-haired man replied, resting his head on the woman's shoulder.
Karma smiled at the answer. At first, Valko wasn't as affectionate or kind as he was now. After all, he was a werewolf whose "mate" turned out to be a mere human, but now, he doesn't seem to care at all.
“I've brought you a gift!” The woman announced. “Taking advantage of my free time on the mission, I decided to buy you something.” She added, going to a small bag she had left on the table.
“You didn't need to buy me anything, darling.” The man sighed as he went with her.
“But I wanted to do it, so!” She took a small box out of the bag and gave it to his mate.
The man opened it, revealing a silver bracelet. He looked at it, raising both eyebrows; it was beautiful. He had never received anything like it as a gift.
“Since you're always making me bracelets and necklaces, I wanted to do something special for you too.” The woman stared into the man's yellowish eyes; they shone like never before. “I love you, sweetie.”
“I-I…I love you too.”
“Come on! Put it on!” The girl grabbed the bracelet. Very carefully, she placed it on the man’s arm. “Beautiful!”
“It is.” Valko answered, looking at it.
“That's all?” Karma asked, somewhat puzzled.
Valko looked at her and hugged her again, tighter than before, kissing her face. He rubbed his head against her, excited and happy. He was acting like a little puppy.
“God, I love you so much. So so so much.”
Karma laughed. "It's nothing, wolfie! I love you too, my dear.” When she realized it, she was lying on the floor, with her partner on top of her rubbing his ears in her face; she laughed again and hugged him tightly. “Were you making breakfast?”
“Yes!” He answered happily, wagging his tail so fast the woman could hardly see it. “Shall I make you breakfast?”
“Sure! And then we go for a walk?”
“Of course, my love.”
