thinking about the cairn memory where sigurd comes up to eivor sometime soon after her parents’ death to tell her that styrbjorn has adopted her and asks her about the two cairns she is building and she says ‘this is my father varin and kjotve the cruel’ and she just screams and bursts into tears 🥺😭 and sigurd lets her cry for a bit then says “lean on me. I will lead you home” 😭😭
and how throughout the game it’s eivor struggling to lead sigurd home back to her, despite all his fighting against it and wayward resentment to her, away from his glory-seeking and madness, and in the end he comes back to himself in time to lead her out of yggdrasil, opening the door out of odin’s memories to where her memories are, to her family and friends and where everything that matters is fleeting and fragile but real, and after it all he is the one who leans on her to leave the chamber and finally head back home to their clan, but not before acknowledging to her all she’s done and saying at last to her, “where you go, eivor, I will follow.”
