So Dirk and Valcher are very funny in the sense that they are both just the combination of a bunch of characters I like / a ship I like just turned into its own Original Thing. Like, Dirk is meant to be a cross between Cid Highwind (FF7) and Yuri Lowell (tales of vesperia), in the sense of like. Dude doing a job and takes too many cigarette breaks and swears a lot, but he has a strong sense of justice and isn't afraid to put his neck on the line to do what's right.

Where as Valcher is physically a combination of Vincent Valentine (FF7), Holy Order Sol (guilty gear), and an OC design I had drawn up several several years prior as a throwaway vampire design. Personality wise he's definitely summarized with "I am very small and I have no money so you can imagine the type of stress I'm under" he's meant to come off super imposing and he is, he's super fuckin strong, but emotionally he's going through a lot. Lost his family, his home, but hey at least now he's got a hot old man to sexualize.

I also made a distinct note in the book (idk if u read it and if u did please tell me what you think of it) about how Dirk is technically younger than Valcher because I think it's a funny dynamic to have.

I think it's also imperative to note how Dirk is much more worldly about things and essentially has anthropology based special interests tm. Like the dude went to school to learn about the world and nature and shit and then finds the equivalent of Bigfoot and immediately they start dating. If that ain't the dream life idk what is. I'm so torn on where to go with the next installment which is why it's taken me so long to get around to writing it OTL
