It's Charlie's final day in hell. She is surrounded by the boxes of her belongings in a cold dark palace that is surrounded by protesters from every ring. She hasn't seen her Dad since the explosion at Velvette's Lounge. She only has a few hours left.
The pale blue light of the TV flickered, reflected in Charlie’s blank stare. Her knees were pressed up to her chin and her blanket was wrapped around her. The fabric scratched faintly at her skin, but she barely registered it. Her legs had long since gone numb, pins and needles blooming dully beneath the pressure. Too focused on the TV. The room smelled faintly stale—old air, dust, something sweet gone wrong. She didn’t blink. Didn’t breathe properly. Just stared. Her thumb twitched against the remote.
This is an extract of my rewritten Chapter 7 of my fic: How Charlie met Emily.
I have been rewriting it, and I am much happier with the newer versions.
If you don't know the premise, it is an arranged marriage-canon divergent AU fic between Charlie and Emily, that aims to explore how this situation came to be.
The main ships are Charlie x Emily, Emily x Vaggie, and eventually Charlie x Emily x Vaggie. With a large POV focus on each of them plus Sera and Lucifer.
