Vadis and Varric had been nearly inseparable ever since the Inquisition started. Whenever you looked for the Herald of Andraste in Haven, or the Inquisitor in Skyhold, the Dwarf was never far off.

Many speculated that there was more to the two than mere companionship - some even regarded this as plain fact, despite her somewhat secretive involvement with the reclusive hedge mage painting the rotunda.

However, this couldn't be further from the truth. Vadis found a companion, a friend, and even a platonic soulmate in the Storyteller - As did Varric in her.

Their friendship would continue for many years, even after Corypheus' defeat and the disbandment of the Inquisition two years later. Despite often being countries apart, they would keep in close contact regardless.

One day, when the two visited Wycome so Vadis could reconnect with her Clan, she reflected on the times Varric went out of his way to take care of her. This prompted the two to make a promise: One day, when Varric would be old and wrinkly, he'd allow her to take care of him.

Considering he just. Dies at the beginning of Veilguard. (btw I have not finished the game, I am still in act one but was spoiled about this way before I started the game)

Vadis barely has anything left.

She is estranged from her Clan, who knows if they're even still alive during this blight.

She has no inquisition anymore. All her friends are scattered through the wind.

And her lover is actively trying to destroy the world.

And then she sends out her best friend, one of the only people she trusts with this, to find Solas.

And he dies by Solas hand.

And I genuinely don't know yet how her thought process would be while I am aiming for the Solavellan ending. Could she really forgive Solas for Varric? Or at least look past it enough to go with him into the Fade?

But on the other hand, if Varric was alive this whole time. And I aimed for the Solavellan ending, she would leave him behind after all.

Despite talking/wishing to settle down with Solas and Varric after everything is done, she is choosing her love over him after all.

And, considering in my hc Varric is Aromantic, this is literally one of the worst feelings I know and I don't want to do that to him.

So either it's "I am choosing my love because I have nothing else left for me" or "I am choosing my love and leaving the other most important person to me behind"
