HISTORY A sole survivor of circumstances caused by [ The Obsidian Tragedy ] that befell her city. Demonstrating a miraculous will to survive, after scrounging for scraps and rations for what seemed to be an eternity in a sea of crimson, she was offered salvation by a sorcerer. She did not hesitate to accept the hand that was given, and was then transferred to another dimension without her knowledge. Unbeknownst to Irene, the universal constant known as [IRENE VAANS] is fated to die without so much as a whimper. Only two permutations out of infinite timelines escaped this fate, and without intervention, Irene would have surely perished and become nothing more than a drop of blood on the crimson canvas of her hometown. Due to bearing witness to gruesome slaughter and macabre scenery, she sought comfort in being selectively blind, suppressing memories of the past to live in the present. Ever since that fateful day, she was taken into the Church for refuge. There, her magical potential was evaluated as she honed her magecraft under supervision. She did not stand out in her group of peers, but was rather obsessed with barrier magic due to the idea of protecting others appealing to her. Practicing and studying barrier magecraft was her routine night and day, often missing out on social gatherings and participation in other recreational activities. Indeed, if asked what her hobbies were, she would struggle to respond and nervously mention studying, unsure if it was an acceptable answer. However, she did not particularly mind if it meant that she could use what she learned to protect others from harm. Dedicated to her studies, she did not cause any problems for her peers. Due to this, her interactions with others were minimal, and consequently, leaves nuanced social interaction much to be desired. Her appearances in the public were rare and hardly noteworthy. At most, she would be out in the markets purchasing some groceries. Out of the shopkeepers that remember her, they remark that she is a polite, reserved ghost that appreciates what little things life can offer.  Despite being gentle, frail-looking and meek, somewhere deep in her soul resides a spark that pushes her to stand her ground and trudge forward. She seeks to venture out and experience the world for herself, or at least, what's left of it.   Irene is like a walking contradiction; fragile yet sturdy. Dainty, yet steadfast. ABILITIES LEGACY: Boundary Vision A legacy ability that was developed to get around Irene's selective blindness. Irene no longer relies on this method to see around her as several events set forth a precedent for her to [open her eyes]. Now utilized in situations that demands more than what [sight] can accomplish.  Irene erects a boundary around her with the following properties: one, makes a vague outline of whatever the boundary touches and wraps around, and two, allows her to detect movement when the boundary disturbed through motion. These entities appear as incorporeal aether taking the shape of the object. To Irene, this magecraft is lightweight and is natural as vision. Clairvoyance (False) A rudimentary skill formed from practice. Irene's method of vision is sensitive to one’s flow of mana or energy; what one may perceive with their eyes may drastically appear as something else to her. One such instance could be someone exuding energy that others may not see, allowing her to gauge the strength of the individual. Mystic Eyes of Boundary Perception When triggered, Irene's eyes glow an aurora of cyan. Normally an indicator of when Irene taps into her divine blood. Allows Irene to perceive the natural boundaries of the world and utilize the space around her to facilitate advanced use of her magecraft. Due to being granted access to information that tied her closer to her origin, Irene underwent an awakening that allowed her to make conscious use of these eyes. Barrier Magic A skillset born of a desire to stop future tragedies from occurring. A particular field of magecraft that is versatile in use. The user knits a framework of magical energy and spreads it along an area. Irene is able to affix the point of origin of the boundaries to herself, allowing it to move with her.Able to form barriers to protect herself and allies, in all sorts of manners that is only limited to the user's imagination.  Barrier magic is normally delegated to the task of defense, and is thus extremely unwieldy to use as an attack. An apt analogy would be to use a shield other than its intended purpose (i.e. using a shield as a sword).  However, as a byproduct of being tempered by stress, training, and coincidence, when Irene's divine blood resonates within the core of her being, the concept of 'barrier' evolves into [Boundary], becoming a medium that allows Irene to mold that [Boundary] into what she sees fit using principles borrowed from magecraft, only made possible through sorcery. This is not unlike giving form to theoretical physics. By overwriting the parameters of what is defined as a barrier, the barrier may be used as an attack. PHANTASM Dimensional Reinforcement ~ Dear Eternity A phantasm that converts improbability into possibility--what is normally deemed to be intangible odds by universal standards transforms into one that is tangible. A variable that should not exist is created to occupy an empty space in an equation to enforce a result. It overwrites reality to increase the chances of the user's deepest wishes to occur. Sublimates itself into the user's magic, causing Irene’s magecraft to be enhanced and utilized beyond rules set by Gaia. In other words, this is Irene’s ability to manipulate the boundaries of the concept of [Space] by [reinforcing] its intangibility into something tangible. Due to the bizarre nature of Irene being an exception of a dead constant, the nebulous concept of [IRENE] is called forth across multiple planes of existence and is funneled and [reinforced] through one. These concepts are only given form through expression of Irene’s Sorcerer blood. A unique case of calling forth one’s will, it is given form and function as unseen doppelgangers that inherit the will and [template] of Irene. The doppelgangers’ lifespans are ephemeral, constantly being under threat to instantaneously vanish by entropy via the natural laws of the world—a process that can only be delayed by mere seconds through [Dimensional Reinforcement]. Despite their ephemeral nature, these interdimensional doppelgangers serve as projections and extensions of Irene, allowing the use of her magecraft in multiple locations in a single instance. It is easier to imagine them as afterimages given form, to be used as tools in Irene’s arsenal that vanish as soon as their purpose is fulfilled. However, these doppelgangers are merely a byproduct of her ability to reinforce space. What is truly frightening about this ability is that [IRENE] becomes a theoretical engine of infinite power. When her Sorcerer’s blood is expressed, metaphysical frequencies ring out across an infinite multiverse like a drop of water in an endless sea, where that drop beckons forth infinite branches of possibilities that have all met a premature end. Invisible ripples are sent through time and space and call for the ephemeral traces of [Irene Vaans], which are then reinforced and drawn back to the origin, forming the collective identity known as [IRENE VAANS]. As it currently stands, Irene is not yet a suitable vessel for such power, and despite such fault, with her ability to [Reinforce Dimensions], a loophole of loopholes is found with a combination of her knowledge in magecraft and circumvention through sorcery. Her magic circuits will not be able to contain the power and thusly [break] and render her existence inert. However, [Dimensional Reinforcement ~ Dear Eternity] will continuously hold her existence together as the templates of [IRENE VAANS] are used to repair her vessel as fast as it shatters ad infinitum. As a result of her magic circuits undergoing circuit breakage and repair faster than perception can comprehend, the impression of azure particulates emanating from her body is made as [incomprehensible] amounts of aura emanate from her frame. The result is a hauntingly beautiful display of [Humanity] with all of its might and unyielding protest in an effort to defy a fated end. In other words. Irenes’ limits of being a mage are broken as she harnesses her will across dimensions. It is Irene’s ability to manipulate the boundaries of space. It is Irene’s ability to reinforce her existence. It is not wrong to say that [she] is her own source of power.
