The first ever arc was with V1Eclipse and he was introduced to us as THE Villain; antagonizing Sun and Moon, putting them through dangerous situations and hurting them both physically and mentally, we see this in the show as the audience And all of us understand that he’s the villain, the bad guy because obviously he hurt Sun and Moon deeply! He’s plotting their death! He’s doing everything a text book villain would do so we should hate him!

But then “Eclipse’s SAD ORIGIN STORY in VRCHAT” changes everything we ever saw of him before.

Don’t get me wrong, he still did some pretty messed up shit and very much deserves consequences but we got to see that he wasn’t just “oohhh I’m a villain! OOGA BOOGA” but that he was an individual who was deeply hurt by the actions of our main character’s (mainly Moon’s) decision; all of the harmful actions towards the protagonists didn’t come from nowhere, instead it came from being abandoned, left to rot in someone else’s head inside of a body he never asks to be in.

And we also grow more of an understanding with the Eclipse and Puppet show, knowing that Eclipse cared about Moon??? And felt so deeply heartbroken when he was left behind in Sun’s head??? OH MY GOD

This can also go for Moon; yes he did horrible things, yes he was a prick towards Sun and yes he did lie about many things, but at the end of the day we also understand why. He was constantly haunted by the deaths he caused and wanting to be freed by the cause of it, he left apart of his killcode in Sun which ultimately led to Eclipse and he wasn’t used to vulnerability at all due to the very unstable environment he grew up in alongside Sun; and despite all the things he’s done, we all know that he cared deeply for his brother in the many limited ways he knew how to.

AND THIS GOES FOR ALOT OF OTHER CHARACTERS LIKE MONTY AND SO MANY MORE!!! but im only knowledgable in the first arcs so I’ll stop it here

I don’t know if anyone understands what my pea sized brain is trying to say but what I’m trying to say is that this show creates a lot of deep characters that are flawed and complex to the point where you just cannot hate anyone because you understand them and why they did the things they did in that situation.

Like yes V1!Eclipse, I would also go on a villain arc if the person I cared so deeply about left me to rot inside someone else’s head. Yes Moon I would also disable my emotions after the horrific tragedies because I would not be able to handle anymore heavy emotions after the traumatic experience.

I love this show and the emotions the invoke in me, kudos to the VAs, the writers and everyone working on the show, you all deserve a good nights rest and a hot cocoa
