{ present } arabian au.
Being a prince had its perks. On the day of his birth, Haruka was brought the most beautiful, precious things from the farthest parts of the kingdom. His favorite had been a large sapphire. Deep blue and cold against his forehead, it felt just like a rain drop. Though more items were brought over, the child prince's attention never left the gem which was colored the same as his wide, clear eyes.
That is, until a flash of squirmy red entered his peripheral vision. Haruka frowned at the 'item' that was offered. The one who presented his gift told him it was a toy, but surely toys shouldn't wail or flail like this. Haruka leaned closer, pressing his hands curiously about the other child's chubby cheeks. So warm, this one was not a doll, though he was cute like one. The prince left his sapphire to focus on his new gift, whom he was told to be named 'Rin'.
Unfortunately, Rin did not seem to like him very much, as he continued to cry. Haruka wanted desperately to make this tiny bundle of tears happy, but he was not certain as to how to accomplish that task. In the end, he decided to do what his mother the Queen used to do for him. Gently, he kissed the other child on his tear streaked cheek. The servants around them all gasped, telling Haru he ought to not kiss a 'lowly being' such as his gift. He didn't care though.
Even from the very beginning, Haruka knew just how much he needed to make Rin smile.
