She had heard the excellent news, but he was nowhere to be found. As Bellatrix turned the corner she spotted him instantly and rushed to where he stood. "Show it to me, show it." yanking his arm forward, she lifted his robe and traced the mark with feather like strokes. 

                                             The common room was all but deserted, and she found an idle fascination in the dripping wax of the candles that stood on the wooden table before her. She'd dip her fingertips into the molten wax and watch it dry on her skin, and this went on for what must have been hours. Bellatrix knew she had classes in a matter of hours but that didn't much worry her, school activities and obligations never did. Most were beyond tedious, and she only went to pass the time. It was late autumn and the winter was already threatening to be fictitious, not that she could see any of it from the Slytherin common room that was basked in the dancing shadows that the candle light provided. 

                             She had spotted him sitting by himself, at a small table near the back of the room. Seemingly comfortable in whatever he was doing from his plush chair.

                                        "I'm bored." she whined, but there was always an edge to the way she spoke, always a dare somewhere between the lines, a challenge. "Why must all of you be so..."she twirled her hands in the air as she tried to pluck the right word to use.

                                                   "Mundane."
