First of all I have to say that I LOOOVE your blog, it’s amazing. After reading your last post about antisocial vs asocial I got me thinking. You said that entps are typically not either unless they are mad at someone or upset. They tend to do whatever they want, as a young female entp I am rather quiet in social situations because I overthink. Is there anything that you would suggest to help me be more extroverted?

So we have to keep in mind that ENTPs are not extroverted because they like being around people a lot. This is not the external influence that fuels us. Instead, our extroversion is fueled by our interest in ideas and connections outside of us. The Ne allows us to watch our environment and pick up meanings and make connections and add on to what we see. This external or extroverted intuition is the kindle to our fire and it really doesn’t have anything to do with people or the traditional meaning of the words extroverted or introverted.
As a result, you can definitely have a pretty quiet ENTP, and I really wouldn’t be surprised to see these behaviors more strongly in female or minority ENTPs... especially when we’re younger.
I was a really quiet kid (much to like... everyone’s disbelief). And as I grew, I think I gained a better understanding of how I deal with embarrassment and the effects of my actions... in other words, as I got older, I stopped caring what people thought and I became louder because I’d logick-ed these things out for myself. However, whenever I’m in a new environment, I always need time to reflect and decide how I want to be perceived, and then gradually I become more extroverted as I figure out the maps.
So you’re not out of the ordinary by any means. If you want to come off as more extroverted, just be confident and go for it! It’ll start off a bit difficult, but I promise with time, you’ll become a pro, and it won’t really give you much anxiety any more.
