1 - Is there a reason your V/OC chose the arm and/or leg cyberware they have? Like, besides fitting with your gameplay style, did they grow up with a fascination for guns so they decided it would be preem as hell to have fuckin rocket launchers installed in their arms once they had the disposable eddies to do it?
Scalin' walls and punchin' shit.
V likes to think she can infiltrate and be stealthy -- and she can to a point! The ability to scale a high wall just by jumping that she gets from her fortified ankles really helps with that.
The gorrilla arms came not long after she started competing in boxing. Those bad boys won her the championship ✌
2 - Is there a story behind your V/OC's facial cyberware?
The EMP Threading is pretty standard. She's not sure if they actually work beyond looking cool but better safe than sorry, not like they're ugly!
My V got her first cybereyes a few years before canon, although they were mostly cosmetic. After a traumatic experience when she was 19 she decided to get the black scleras. It was partly for safety, partly symbolic -- with all-black eyes nobody can see exactly where she's looking, minimalising the risk of accidental eye contact (which can be dangerous in rough areas), but also she just wanted something that would symbolise her own 'death' after that event.
It's my HC that if she and Johnny had survived and got their own bodies she would have changed them eventually -- symbolically 'taking off the shades' much like Johnny sometimes does when he's being more sincere with her.
3 - How did your V/OC get their scars?
She has a bunch around her thighs, abdomen and a couple on her breasts. The aforementioned traumatic event is where the most of them came from. She was almost completely 'ganic back then and it took a minute to find her and patch her up so they healed normally. Most of her injuries since then are healed quickly with nanites so minimal/no scarring, though I'm sure she still picks up a few as she goes.
4 - How often does your V/OC switch up their hair color/style? Do their chooms worry if they show up with a drastic new look, or is changing things up just something they do on the regular?
V's pretty firm on her hair, it's about the only stable part of her identity these days. She has it up in buns when she's out and about, and lets it down in private. Drastic hair changes mean she's REALLY going through it -- the last time she changed her hair was the same time she got her scleras.
5 - Does your V/OC have a favorite weapon? Bonus: do they have a name for said weapon?
V gets gifted so many weapons they usually come with names! Her two favs by endgame are the Malorian and Mox, but she's also partial to a pink graffiti'd baseball bat she used to use back in her joytoy days.
6 - Does your V/OC have a nickname (other than 'V') and what's the story behind it? Do they like it, or is it something they hate but just can't get away from?
Honestly I just gave her the "Bubblegum" nickname because she's really, really adamant about being "Just V" and I needed something to differentiate her😭
7 - Who is your V/OC's best choom and how did they meet?
"Best choom" is too broad a category for V -- she's pretty specific with how she categorises her chooms.
Vik is like a father to her, Misty is like a sister.
Johnny is definitely her best friend but those mfers would have "it's complicated" as their FB status in the 2010s.
Panam is a good friend but V always feels a little like she's intruding on the Aldecaldos' little unit even if they insist she's welcome.
Kerry is a good choom but she's never not gonna feel like she's playing second fiddle to Johnny.
Judy is probably the closest to her best friend and also her output, she's Very Soft for her.
8 - N54 Weather is forecasting acid rain in Night City for the next several days... what's your V/OC do to pass the time indoors/under cover? Or do they leave NC until the storm passes - where do they go & how do they get there?
Depending if she gets caught unaware or not, V will prolly either hunker down at home and go mad with boredom or retreat to a bar/club and spend the entire several days absolutely wasted 😭
9 - Does your V/OC have a nemesis? Do they have an attraction to them they'll never admit, or something else that gives their interactions a weird... tension? or are they normal about it?
V doesn't really have 'enemies'. If someone reaches that level she either cuts them entirely out of their life or ghosts 'em pronto. No time to fuck around with assholes.
Except Johnny ig,,,,,,,, the tension there is. Thicc.
10 - What's your V/OC's origin story? We all know in-game V can choose one of three lifepaths and The Heist is where everything changes for them, but why'd they end up in the lifepath you selected for them? If they're not a V, how'd they end up in Night City or the Badlands and what the heck made them stay? ...or did they not stay?
V was literally raised on the streets -- when she says everyone is like a family in Heywood, she's not kidding. It takes a village to raise a child and V was raised by whoever took pity on the homeless kid.
She lived in Heywood for her entire life, although it was only just becoming Heywood in her early years. Though she doesn't remember exactly where she was born, she remembers living with her dad somewhere close to where the Reclamation Zone once was.
V moved to to Vista Del Rey in around 2058 when they were priced out of the neighborhood. While in the car with her dad on the way to Santo Domingo, her father was killed and she dragged herself out of the wreckage, beginning her new life in Vista Del Rey.
She stayed there for the rest of her childhood, living out of a local's garage and making do with what little she had left. Despite how rough her childhood was, she wouldn't have wished for a better place to grow up.
