Take birds aging, for instance - it is fucked up no matter how you looked at it. Yuuya was not only physically able to commit murder at age one, but he also understood very well what he was doing (even if he was just following orders and one of the eggs would get smashed either way). But then we have Ryouta who is sixteen and acts as a normal teenager and we know that he didn't have to grow up too soon - well, at least not as soon as Yuuya had to. There are at least two child prodigies among main cast: according to Wiki Isa joined the Hawk party when he was three and we know that Hitori was tutoring for a long time before Heartful House incident which occured when he was somewhere nineteen.

So basically what I'm trying to say is that birds are definitely aging faster than humans, not only physically but also mentally, though psychologically they are not coping with it very well. And it makes so much sense because the whole evolution thing happened in the span of less than what, fifty years? They might have become intelligent, but they haven't adapt to intelligent life (especially with the war and regular terrorist attacks here and there, but I'm not covering that right now). Birds have pretty much just taken humans' social structure - not to mention economical, political and cultural aspects of their society - and applied it to their society. And nobody stopped for a moment and thought that it probably wouldn't work out. Avians can't live like humans used to because they are not humans, however they are not the same species anymore (for fuck's sake, each adult bird is at least five times the size of its feral ancestor) and they are caught between the system that clearly isn't suited for them and inability to live in the wild like they used to because birds are this weird bio-psycho-social beings now that have self-consciense.
