Time: Few days after the memorial Location: Attaboy! @attaboyutu
The night was young, violent, and particularly pink as the neon glare of the city strobed overhead. They hadn’t texted ahead. Partly because they didn’t have Utu’s details. Though it wouldn’t take much to search them up, Alekto couldn’t be bothered. Not when it wouldn’t take long to cross the city. Their bike screeched to a stop outside of Attaboy. The shutters had been drawn, so Utu really hadn’t been lying about closing up shop for a little while. Alekto unclipped their helmet and knowing full well that if Utu was inside, he wouldn’t hear them banging on the front door, so they nipped around the side alley. From there all it took was to jimmy the fire escape door open, which Alekto had done many a time after being locked out. This lead straight into the back offices, and the speak.
“Utu,” they called.
Would they really want to see them? Alekto hadn’t really considered that. They’d just rode over with the intention of inflicting themself upon Utu. “Come to spice up your cinnamon-vanilla evening.” Well, time would tell whether Utu could be dragged out of their Pan-shrine, and if they’d consider getting on Alekto’s bike. “F-Y-I it isn’t breaking and entering, you were closed so I thought I’d let myself in.” Which didn’t lend any credence to Alekto’s argument of not being burglary. Except the only thing Alekto intended to steal was Utu himself.
Attaboy is different. But Alekto barely pays any heed. They find them in one of the back offices, Pan’s old office, sorting through old paperwork and notebooks. How very archaic of Pan. Alekto flashed a shark-toothed grin at them, well only two of their teeth had been sharpened into a point. Dumb dare of a joke presumably on Pan’s behalf. They couldn’t recall. They’d been black-out drunk that night. “You fancy getting out of here?” Alekto knew that Utu was not Pan. That they were very different, and Utu well, they were stuck in their ways. But if they could liberate him for just one evening. “Love what you’ve done to the place…”
