Something I was thinking about and absolutely adored when I pieced it together was Killer's capacity and ABILITY to change, it feels very... Fitting for UnderTale's themes and it might piss him off that in that itty bitty way he didn't change at all, well- You get what I mean probably-

Most other AUs, no offense, don't explore this with their Sans adjacent characters

Murder is stated to be SO fucked up that no matter what, his paranoia, his obsession will keep him from ever moving on regardless if the human were to leave, and never return, as a matter of fact, I vaguely recall a tidbit about him not being able to leave his universe willingly, even with the choice (Not only that but he is highly unstable and Core!Frisk knows this so obviously that's why you never see anyone playing around with the idea of them trying to help, I think MAYBE I've seen it once and it didn't get anywhere)

When I was a newbie 12 year old in the fandom I genuinely thought Killer and Dust were just two different interpretations of a relatively similar scenario by different creators playing with concepts, Hell, I still subconsciously lump them together even thohgh I know the nuances, they are very, VERY different for a few reasons

Before I get off topic, the point is that Dust is stated, to the best of my knowledge that may or may not be outdated, to NOT be able to change, he found the ONLY way, his creators made it so that being who he is now WAS the only way, he and Killer are similar in the respect that Sans would refuse to resort to killing/teaming up with the human no matter what, Dust is the case where that's his last option since he felt he needed to do SOMETHING (Feeling powerless against RESETS/SAVES did NOT help)

Killer however HAD no option where, again, my knowledge could totally be outdated, I have read multiple iterations and a couple things I THINK were retconned, I might be mixing things up but to my understanding his literal code was tweaked with ("Modded"), which, I think also explains his meta fourth wall breaking tendencies

I also remember an older iteration where he did it because he wanted to feel "Something New" (Hence AU Name) and I don'tremember much elaboration besides him getting sick of reliving the timeline and having to stay in character, which, this aspect also explains his tendency to toy around in fights for entertainment (He's almost like Ink in the respect that he may not think of himself or others as real or worth it, again, the PLAYER/CREATORS have all say, why should he care?) and also sadomasochistic behaviors- No, Rahaf is never getting away with having said that probably ONCE about him in public years ago, I am STILL. ON. IT. Analysis People!

Slightly off topic but I vaguely recall maybe there were 4 mentioned ways that the story goes, possibly that one was kept secret, but anyways the most common one being that Killer betrays the human at some point and finishes the genocide on his own (Which i guess is some kind of autonomy I love for him just not- Well. Yeah.)

Anyways I think the much older, latter iteration was vague and might've been recycled into a part of him instead of the main reason he decided to break character? Or I just didn't understand at the time??? I think it's more likely his character got refined over time and that's why my memory of the original comic makes little sense, I wanna go read it. That's why I rose from the dead on Tumblr actually, I heard Rahaf was making Killer content again (By proxy I found out Youmna is playing around with Color and the two's relationship) and I was SO excited to keep my knowledge up to date (Especially considering that all I had to go off of at the time was whatever was archived of the deleted Killer blog, a Wiki I don't entirely trust, and any old comic I could find of him and his AU which was often inconsistently scattered along the internet, thank goodnessfor comic dubs and recognizable art styles though)

Also, they were declared canon and I WAS A #1 FAN FROM DAY ONE, ever since I saw their gay little runaway comic from Nightmare that Rahaf made YEARS ago, Killer found someone good for him, a healthier relationship (Though, to be fair, literally ANY relationship is better than one with Nightmare HELP, glad I ship my OC with my fanon NM but that's me digressing)

This is why I'm making this, Killer HAS potential to change and I adore that SO much, from being forcefully edited and/or coerced, seeing him take a little bit of charge (With Positive Guidance) and figuring himself out are WONDERFUL things to see and super important especially for people with identity disorders (If that's still canon) :(

And his progress isn't linear, he's self destructive and sabotaging in a lot of ways, that's like. The realest thing you could do to a healing character. He's still learning and naviagting.

Also sorta thinking about that sweet little animation Youmna did with the two where Color turned Killer's statement around on him to teach him some self compassion or a bit of empathy/sympathy, and also Color seems to know exactly how Killer learns and applies himself and he does it so smoothly by trying his best to stay passive, Killer is also aware enough to actively acknowledge he is being taught and what he missed and can do better on ("Noted.")

I would also like to mention that thinking of that animation has genuinely helped me cut down on the amount of times I say something similar because I really should take it more seriously, thank you Color for being wonderful

A little bit if a tangent but in the comic, Color refused to fight back (Playing on the passive role I mentioned but also I'm getting a bit of- Well. Lack of motivationto live from him. I mean, when has a Sans ever been motivated for anything though am I ri- I'm Sorry.), Killer probably found an opponent that didn't fight back inherently BORING (Especially for someone so interesting/powerful) and kept agitating Color until something worked, also it was particularly amusing his own creator drew him getting DECKED, 100% DESERVED.

Before this, I felt the relationship mainly benefitted Killer and I wondered, PONDERED, what Color gains from a relationship I perceive and actively claim as relatively healthy and it JUST clicked: He gets someone to care about. Through helping Killer he reminds himself of all the things that matter. I mean he does care for people but being effectively ERASED from his universe he is very limited and that's just. Very. Depressing. No wonder he almost let Killer, well, KILL HIM? Until he remembered he gives a damn and whoop-dee-doo brother (Pun unintended but not unwelcome)

Even more off topic but Color referring to the souls (I Presume) as his "Kids" makes me think wow, he'd be great dad. Or not, we won't know if He FREAKING DIES. Which, he's okay, he got that plot armor. ♡ (Slash Super Silly)

I remember a comic, don't remember if it was fan-made or not, but Killer was talking about struggling with his emotions (Having the option for the first time in a long while and hating that he's having a hard time taking the opportunity) and Color telling him that it's called being numb and that it's okay :(

Dude I am SO sick for them, SO sick, they are WONDERFUL, I get quite sad seeing people talk about how they don't see it (God forbid Kills have a healthy dynamic), or it came out of nowhere (It didn't, it really didn't), or that they just don't like them and the announcement upset them??? (Were you a Killermare or Driller fan... Selfshipper Perhaps? Slash Silly, SLASH SILLY!!!) and I think a part of that is because Color/OtherTale being much less popular and Killer being seen/associated MORE with Nightmare or just the twins in general (OH and beating the shit out of Blue, that was my introduction to him BTW, I HATED him just for that and now he's somehow my favorite, the little fucker...)
