“Why?”

 Sanji took a drag of his cigarette, letting the smoke pour from his lips in wispy spirals.  They stretched upwards, illuminated in the soft yellow light of the streetlamp.  The glow painted the back door of the restaurant a deep red, not unlike the painted Employees Only sign above it.

 Nami shivered, hands shoved into the tiny pockets of the pressed black pants of her uniform.  Women didn’t need functional pockets anyway, right clothing designers?  She tapped her foot impatiently against the steel of the door on which she was leaning.  “Just spit it out already, Sanji.”

 “Kinda felt like you and Usopp were vibin’.” He grinned, pumping his swirled eyebrow as he extinguished his smoke beneath his non-slip kitchen shoes.  The remains of a smashed french fry rubbed off onto the concrete of the parking lot.  

 He didn’t even give her time to answer before he was nudging her aside, sliding back into their workplace without another word. 

 “Wha… WHAT?!” Nami choked out, blinking rapidly.
