Damn that Dio. Just when he thought he had gotten rid of him for good, it seemed that fate would have a different idea for him. Not even a full week after he had defeated Dio and burned his notebook, the world had been ripped asunder. This was done by none other than the very man he had only just defeated. The catch was that the Dio that they were facing off against now seemed to be from another world. A different dimension, one that had ran parallel to the one that he occupied. The Dio from that world had achieved the maximum power of his stand. He had been able to ascend to a high level of existence so to speak, just as the journal Jotaro had read spoke about. Using the power of his stand to achieve something that nobody could ever imagine. A power beyond any stand that existed, even Star Platinum: The World. Dio had managed to convert his stand into a power that could rewrite time and override events that had already happened. Slowly rearranging the world to his will. He was sure that it could probably do more than just that. If it could rewrite history itself and alter the world around him, he was positive that he could probably even rewrite an individualâs history and erase them from the world as well. Maybe even erase them from any existing world. That fact left them at a stale mate. How the hell was he supposed to combat against a stand with a power like that? The power of creation and destruction? Dio had called it The World: Over Heaven. It seemed to be a fitting title after everything he had taken from his journal. Heâd been obsessed with this concept.
An aggravated sigh left Jotaro. Taking a moment to fumble in his pockets, he needed something to take the edge off the stress that hanging over his head right now. After locating the cigarettes, he kept on his person, he placed on between his lips and lit it. It would hardly help, but at least the rush from the nicotine would be enough to clear his mind while he tried to think of what their next move was. After their last attempt to face Dio he had taken from them the one thing that he thought might give them an edge in the fight. Jotaro wasnât sure he still understood what kind of power it would have, only that he just knew it could help them. The parts of this mysterious Holy Corpse that he and his grandfather had discovered. Whenever this version of Dio had appeared in their world, he had brought with him the existence of this corpse. Perhaps it was because of the clashing timelines and worlds that it had surfaced. He couldnât really say for sure. There was still a lot of uncertainty that surrounded the whole situation. The teen took a long drag from the cigarette he had placed between his lips, inhaling deeply before releasing a small cloud of smoke into the air around him. There was only one thing that they had on Dio right now and that was that he hadnât completed the corpse. Because Jotaro still had the heart in his possession. And although these parts were drawn togetherâmaking so chasing them down wouldnât be an issue, there was the fact that their foes werenât just followers of Dio. They were their own comrades, even the ones that had fallen in their respective timelines had been brought back from the dead to fight for the evil bastard.
âYare yare daze,â He muttered to another cloud of smoke that left his lungs. This was only getting more and more complicated. He didnât suppose his life could go back to normal though, could it? Probably not.
Replacing the burning tobacco stick back in his mouth, he took a glance around him. Since leaving whatever dimension Dio had pulled them into, he hadnât really taken into account where he had ended up. For the moment it looked like he was alone. That was probably Dioâs doing, he was sure. Scattering them across worlds and timelines would be easy for him to do and it might even be better for him as well. If their enemies were their comrades, it would be easier to face them if they werenât fighting as a collective team anymore. Picking them off one by one always seemed to be the ultimate strategy. He was beginning to wonder if their enemies would ever come up with an original plan. Nothing had succeeded yet. Only the problem with being separated from the others, with Jotaro being the sole carrier of the Corpse part, it meant that he would be the only one that would be able to enter the rifts and travel between worlds. That left it up to him alone to try and gather what parts he could and find the other members of the Joestar family. What a pain in the ass this was turning out to be. If it wasnât one thing, it seemed to be another. And Dio was only growing more powerful by the minute. If he couldnât find and complete the corpse, he probably wouldnât have a chance in hell at defeating him. It was going to take a miracle to defeat Dio and his power with how advanced it had gotten now. Sometimes he really wished that he could have just gone with a normal life. But this was the fate of the Joestar family line it seemed. Maybe this time he could really end Dio once and for all and break out of this seemingly never-ending cycle.
Taking a look around, he realized where he was finally. The buildings that rose up all around him and the warm air that had settled over him. He knew this place because it wasnât that long ago that he was here. This was the very city where he had found and defeated Dio or the Dio from his world anyway. Only now the streets were quiet, there didnât seem to be any life around him. Not because he had been transported to Cairo in the middle of the night, but because it just seemed to lack human life other than himself. It was possible that this was a version of Cairo that wasnât his or maybe the people here had simply just been written out of the timeline. He couldnât be sure which one it was. But it didnât really matter to him. If he had been transported here, he was betting there was a reason for it. The Corpse parts were drawn together the same way that stand users were drawn to each other naturally. Although being back in Cairo, he wasnât sure what or who he would end up facing against. Killing their foes wasnât an option anymore. Not that he had ever really killed someone to begin with, but even beating them to a pulp as he had a tendency to do would be difficult. Especially if he ended up having to face off against Kakyoin or Avdol again. At this point he wouldnât have felt right even fighting against Iggy. He might not have a choice though if they had what he needed in order to find the others. It seemed he really wasnât going to make this easier on them. Then there was always the thought: what if they couldnât defeat him even with the corpse completed? With Dioâs power⌠this power. They might actually be in over their heads this time.
He took a couple steps into the deserted street. Downtown Cairo was where he had ended up. It was probably about a block or two from Dioâs mansion and not far from the rooftop where Kakyoin had met his death, near the clocktower. Jotaro didnât get too far though, stopping midstep when he felt the throb of the corpseâs heart. Instinctively he paused mid-motion, raising a hand up to press it to his chest. Above his own heartbeat, he could feel it. The occasional pulse of the dead heart he carried with him. There had to be a part nearby. Cairo was a large city though and right now the pulse wasnât too strong. Maybe he could use the beat of the heart in his chest to lead him to where he could collect the next part. Although he had a feeling that nothing good would be waiting for him whenever he was able to track it down. If the parts had been scattered along with his family, it was likely that their foes did have them. Who would it be then? Who would he have to end up facing against in order to recover the corpse part? His jaw clenched at the thought. Nothing was going to get done by standing around. Recollecting himself and lowering his hand back down to his side, he dropped the last of his cigarette, snuffing it out with the sole of his shoe before he started forward down the street once again.
