3rd Room and the diy disasters continue
So time to tackle the small room,
This room is half the size of the other two rooms but while the 1st room had solid walls the small room has plasterboard. Not only is there plasterboard but the plasterboard is layered with lining paper, textured wallpaper and then woodchip wallpaper.
This has resulted in it taking 2 days to completely strip 3 walls and partially strip another. In order to ease stripping I bought a rotary scorer from B&Q and a long handles heavy duty scraper from Harris. Both of these items were next to useless. They did not aid in wallpaper removal in anyway. I got the best results from dry pulling what I could off the walls. Where that didn’t work I soaked the paper and used a small bevelled scraper to get it off.
All the stories of how terrible it is to remove wallpaper are true. It’s a bitch to remove and leaves behind a mess on the wall that is a bitch to me look good.
At least I have also dismantled the weird bed shelf. Only about a 2hr job that I did alone, but everything adds up.
The little bits of paper that have been scraped off the walls are now strewn about the whole house. I lament for when the place will truly be clean.
Another plus is that the smell of cat pee that permeated the house when I moved in has now faded a little..
Although it’s getting messier by the day the whole place is starting g to feel a little bit more like my place. Not quite home yet, but definitely getting there.
