k, so idk what is up with tumblr, lol but to used tail whip, your ask was offensive. I am not defending that girl, but many US soldiers didn't have a choice or didn't know what they were going into (Vietnam) "black youths represented a disproportionate share of early draftees and that African Americans faced a much greater chance of seeing combat" and many died because of agent orange. the way you talked personally offended me because my grandpa died because from cancer caused by agent orange.
It is true that many US soldiers didn’t know what they were getting in to. True.
There were plenty of people who were* aware and tried hard to go to Vietnam. Yes.
There were plenty of people who were* aware and were gung-fucking-ho about pillaging villages.
When they got there, (I can send you some primary sources if you’d like), the mentality for most* soldiers was most, “Damn, this is fucked up.”
Black youth was definitely getting the shit stick in Vietnam, people on BOTH sides of this war were definitely affected by Agent Orange and are still* facing adverse genetic affects.
The way she spoke came from a place of pain that is valid. People from usedtailwhip’s life were affected as well. I refuse to overlook that both sides of this argument have pain and destruction that is still present in their life because of this war.
I’m aware that your Grandfather died because of affects of Agent orange. Very true.
But this displays on the other side of the Ocean as well.
I will never never never put the lives of US people over those of their international ‘political’ ‘current’ or ‘past’ enemies. EVER.
