So this post was going to be about my favorite college, but that's Georgetown University and then I wrote about a bunch of my other favorite as well so I'll focus on that peculiar one (which I'd love to attend by the way): Vassar College.

Vassar is small liberal arts college located in Poughkeepsie, NY, a small town located near New York City. Highly selective, I chose Vassar for its weirdness. 

Let me explain, first of all, Vassar is a liberal arts college, which entails the impossible-to-believe student-faculty ratio of 8:1, an idyllic campus, and diversity.

I'd like to emphasize on one historical fact of Vassar. It was originally a women's college. Built in the middle of the 19th century, Matthew Vassar believed that Vassar would be a place where woman could thrive and get an access to higher education. The very historical dimension of the school influences its pioneer spirit. I may sound like a textbook right now, but that's something to really consider with Vassar. Basically, students there like to think, to question things, to get out of their comfort zone. They take pride in being different. The experience itself is a transformative. 

I think that's the main characteristic that draw me to apply there, the one that set Vassar apart from other schools. On top of this, the school have excellent academic program, although you have to apply for a major and take a test I believe, it really encapsulates the spirit of a liberal arts college and gives you solid foundations. 

Great extracurriculars, like a lot of top-tier LACs. Another good aspect is the opportunities available there. The career website really attracted me. If you check out their website, you'll find stories about the Vassar experience and where their diploma led some grads one year after graduation (investment banking and so on). Funny that Whiplash won a few Oscars on Sunday, it was made by an alum!
