Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix - Saturday
Saturday featured the first of 2 days of racing in the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix. Among the series that raced this day at Belle Isle included the Verizon IndyCar Series, IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship, Trans-Am Series presented by Pirelli and the SPEED Energy Stadium Super Trucks. Scott Dixon (#9) claimed his 42nd victory of his Verizon IndyCar Series career on Saturday in Dual #1 of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix. IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship
Felipe Nasr & Eric Curran took the checkers for a overall win in the #31 Whelen Cadillac for Action Express Racing on the streets of Belle Isle. Katherine Legge & Mario Farnbacher got the win in GT Daytona in the #86 Acura NSX GT3 for Meyer Shank Racing. Click here for full race results. IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship will be back in action on July 1 at Watkins Glen International with the Sahlen’s 6 Hours of the Glen. All four classes will be in competing in the historic 6 hour endurance contest. The race is also round #3 of the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup. Gavin Harlien (#55) took the win in first SST race of the weekend at Belle Isle. Aaron Barnbach (#3) finished in second, and Arie Luyendyk Jr. (#119) rounded out the podium in third position. Trans-Am Series presented by Pirelli - TA2
Tony Buffomante (#34) took the checkers in the first Trans-Am TA2 race of the weekend at Belle Isle. Rafa Matos (#88) finished in second, and Gar Robinson (#74) rounded out the podium in third. World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Cars - Wilmot Raceway (WI)
Following a long rain delay, the World of Outlaws raced on a ultra-fast Wilmot Raceway in the Badger 40 on Saturday night. Brent Marks (#19) claimed his first World of Outlaws victory, with Kasey Kahne Racing teammates Daryn Pittman (#9) and Brad Sweet (#49) rounding out the top 3 positions. NASCAR XFINITY Series - Pocono Raceway (PA)
Kyle Busch (#18) claimed yet another win in the NASCAR XFINITY Series this Saturday in the Pocono Green 250. Chase Elliott (#23) finished in second and Daniel Hemric (#21) was the top series regular of the race, finishing third. Click here for full race results.
