Do any other autistics/neurodivergent people get extra frustrated when experiencing simultaneous urgent sensory needs if one or more of them has a sudden onset?
Like, I’ll be just getting home and super ready to ditch the Presentable Sensory Hell Clothes after wearing them all day, but the moment I walk in the door, I become suddenly aware that I have to pee right this second Or Else. And I know it’ll only take a minute and then I can get out of the clothes. But dammit, body, if you had to pee for long enough for it to be this urgent, couldn’t you have waited one more minute before attacking me with the urge? And that’s what it feels like, an attack, or one part of my body being “selfish” about its needs coming first. I even sometimes feel bitter about the perceived slight until I inevitably forget about it and move on with my life.
Thought about this after reading 00queer’s post “on being autistic and having strong emotional reactions,” as a mild tangent/specific incarnation of what they were saying. And also after being mad that I had to interrupt clipping my nails to blow my nose. :P
