Okay, I'm bad with updates (obviously), but here’s what’s been going on. The first week was the hardest because I couldn't eat much except ice cream, smoothies, mash potatoes, and liquids. The brackets in my mouth that I needed for the surgery have been scratching the inner stuff in my mouth. I couldn’t feel it yet, but I could feel the scratches with my tongue. Most of my face was swollen and numb so the first few days I wouldn’t touch my face because it felt so uncomfortable. After the first week, I started eating more squishy foods like macaroni and cheese, cut up pasta, eggs, and cut up pancakes. It was hard to eat but I figured out how to mash them with my tongue and roof of my mouth. When I hit the second week I was finally able to start getting my conditioning for sports (I play soccer) and began walking around a soccer dome and even slowly jogged a bit. I also got all of my stitches out of my lip and where the incisions were. It felt a little weird when they were finally out but it didn't hurt at all like I thought. My nose is still runny but blood is no longer coming out which is good! I’m not allowed to chew anything yet but I’ve started nibbling lightly on some very cut up pizza and rigatoni noodles. It doesn’t hurt but I’m being careful. I am also back to my normal with my weight. I weighed about 120 lbs before the surgery and three days later I weighed 109 lbs. I’m still self-conscious about my face, especially my nose. It’s turned up sort of like a pig’s nose so I’m not happy about that but my doctor assured me that it’s just the swelling and that is should go back to almost 100% normal. I’m still numb where the swelling is, which is mainly where my plates are. Overall I am happy that I did the surgery but can’t wait for the next 2 months to be over so I can see the finished results!
