It's nice that the GLC writers have things planned for everyone, but I'm not sure I like the ideas. Amy becoming famous could make her become disillusioned by it and calm down.. or it could just give her more chances to hog the camera. A Teddy/Spencer breakup sounds good, but it also sounds like his flaws will never be addressed. And why is there no mention of the premise: a teenager trying to help her large family get by? I know that's been buried for a while now, but I still miss that Teddy.
I agree with everything. Like you said, it's nice that they seem to have an overreaching arc, but I'm not so happy about the ideas.
There used to be a time when I liked Amy. I'm sure you remember that lol. I knew she was a bit over the top and annoying, but I was okay with that since I'm a little over the top myself. But I haven't really liked her since late season 1 or early season 2 (they run together at this point so I can't remember). She went from over the top mom to "It's ALL about me!" What happened to the mom who wanted what was best for her kids in spite of her self-centered-ness? What happened to the mom who was actually HURT by the fact that Teddy played her to go see a movie? We really don't see that anymore. Now it's just, "me, fame, me, fame, me, me, me" and it feels like she would sell her own kids to be famous. (I really disliked in the new episode where Teddy and Spencer are doing the play and even after Amy hurt Teddy and then apologized, she was still able to get what she wanted. It was like, "oh okay you made good, here's your reward.")
I agree that it sounds good and hopefully that's where it ends up going. But, yeah, if they never address his flaws more full on then that's just sad. The only sort of bright light in season 3, for me, in regards to their relationship has been that Ivy and Amy still dislike him and see him as flawed.Â
You are SO right! What happened? I said a while back that I think the video diaries are so pointless now. There's really no need for them because Teddy isn't the same teenage girl looking to help her family and Charlie. Her video diaries have become so contrived that there's no way they'll be of much help in the future. What happened to Teddy spieling about her first kiss? Or what it's like having a boy over for a study date? (Lol, internally cringing that I have to use Spencer examples.) Or even when she broke up with Spencer and she and Amy showed Charlie the rawness of how it feels? I miss that about the show. Teddy's allowed to grow up and change obviously, but the changes the writers have chosen for her haven't been great. It's like she's losing maturity instead of gaining it, if that makes any sense.
(I wasn't sure if I should publish or answer privately. I went with publish since 1. it's nice to have good discussion out in the open and 2. Tumblr keeps eating my messages Dx)
