Qotd: Who is your favorite mythology character? . . #Uponaburningthrone = Mythology + Fantasy + Retelling + strong characters + women power + fight for power . . ❤️ This retelling of Mahabharata gave me Game of thrones feels in many places. . . In a world where demigods and demons walk among mortals, two young princes, Adri and Shvate, are in line to rule. Both of them have disabilities. The elder one, Adri is blind and the younger, Shvate is an albino who is sensitive to sunlight. They have support from Vrath (Demigod) who is the Prince Regent and Jilana, the Dowager Queen. There is a villain, Jarsun who wants to sit in the throne. He also has magical powers and he wants to kill the princes and capture Arthaloka. . . The setting of the world of Arthaloka is spectacular. The writing is so detailed and descriptive. The starting is bit dragged but I think it is needed for the story. Once you've crossed the first part, it's a magical ride. There are many action sequences in this story. The narration is so good and graphical. . . There is no single protagonist. That's the beauty of this Epic. Each character is important and the character justifications in this book are well done. The dialogues are bit strained and certain events are repetitive. . . I loved Vrath. His character arc was as amazing as the original one. The Demi God effect and his actions & dialogues, I loved everything about his character. The challenges faced by Adri & Shvate are well explained and I liked reading their perspectives. I loved their vulnerability and strength. I also loved Karni's story. . . As I've read original & some retellings of Mahabharata, I know what's gonna happen next. So I missed the surprise elements. Still I liked the writing and story building and character arcs in this story. But for people who have never read Mahabharata before, this epic fantasy will be a magical and adventurous ride. . . And I'm super excited to read about Karna, Krishna, Draupati and the children of Adri & Shvate(Their character names in this book are yet to be disclosed) in the next 2 books. I'm waiting for the next book in the series to come. . . . Thank you @simonandschusterin ❤️ https://www.instagram.com/our_treasure_chest/p/BzGUWpYg0jb/?igshid=n04yk7435je6
