#updates from hell

We did not cyberbully staff into changing things, we didn't "win" anything. Let alone some kind of war or something. Please please please I like the memes too but can we pause the theatrics for a bit and look at this from a less silly main-character-syndrome-y perceptive.

We, users of a website, gave the website ceo feedback about how his team broke the website we're using.

And his/his team's response was "We still want to break the website. But we don't want you to give the website bad press for it."

In a week, remind them we don't want the notes to change at all. In a month, tell them again. Politely. But tell them. Keep telling them.

We didn't win anything, Tumblr. We yelled at them that they were breaking things, and they said they didn't want to be yelled at while they break things.

You got your practice round of using the tickets and (hopefully) got a nice exercise in giving a big corporation direct feedback.

We DO NOT and WILL NOT accept your plans to "(give) every voice in a chain the credit it deserves."

You cannot have your cake and eat it too. You cannot and will not break this site and be met with silence let alone acceptance.

And do not sit comfortably on the trans issue, either, staff. I will stand with my sisters as a trans man myself. We will not let you forget your crimes.

As of writing this on Friday, March 20th, I am one of hundreds who are ready to help our trans fiends find justice. And each and every time you break this site further you remind more people of your poor treatment of the trans women on this site.

And I'm willing to bet even more will have happened by the time I post this on April 1st.

We understand your job is to upkeep and improve this site, and we understand you are being told to implement new features. Don't worry! We have many ideas about how you can improve it for us. Accept the feedback and act promptly, and you will be met with praise and support from your userbase. Including but not limited to: more traffic to the site, more purchases and funding, and a positive coss-platform PR.

A small fraction of the feedback are as follows:

Moderation:

- Remove the White Supremacist, Nazi, and Terf communities from this site.

- Take reports of Hate Speech Violation (specifically in the areas of Racism and Transphobia) more seriously and act on them promptly.

- Accept, listen to, and act on appeals from black creators and trans creators for wrongful account suspensions.

- Screen, diagnose, and promptly remove the racist and transphobic bias in your moderation tools and moderation teams.

UI - Functionality:

- Remove Tumblr TV entirely, saving space in the UI and also freeing up much of the moderation team responsibilities in that area. (Worried? release a survey!)

- Give us Archive access for mobile devices.

- Give us Mass Post Editor access and blog metrics access for mobile devices

UI - Cosmetics:

- Revert changes made to the UI, specifically the separation of Likes/Reblogs/Comments Note Tally in the post footer.

- Give us animation/gif icons, as well as the ability to turn off such functions.

You have seen our power in the past months. And we were barley organized. Imagine what we could make with your site if we were on your side. Imagine the support of us users. The positive PR, the strong community, the funding and brand loyalty.

Make this site welcoming and we will come and make a home here. Continue to break it, and we will leave and take you down in the process.
