Shatter The Vain 149: April Fools
This is episode one hundred and forty-nine of Shatter The Vain. I’m Brad Chmielewski and this is a podcast all about the mobile MOBA Vainglory created by Super Evil Megacorp.
This past week was the release of Vainglory update 2.3 and with it came a ton of balance changes and tweaks that are likely to keep us all adjusting how we play. To go over some of these changes and share his Vainglory story is Bloodskies. Bloodskies is a member of the guild Ardent and has been streaming Vainglory for a number of months. The streams are always fun and allows the viewers to get involved with the gameplay.
The two of us also chat about some ways that new players can get involved and find the Vainglory community whether online, Discord or even in the forums.

I figured a good way to end Vainglory update 2.3 would be with hero that really didn't see much love this update, Joule. For me I love playing Joule but it's been a long time and it shows in this game because I was missing most of my Thunder Strikes; always feels bad when you're unpracticed on a hero.
One of my favorite things to do in casual queue is dive into some of the off meta concepts. Crystal power Ardan is almost never seen, you do get to see weapon power Ardan bring out the pain from time to time but never crystal. What's interesting about Ardan is all of his abilities do crystal damage but there are just so many better options on the halcyon fold when looking for a crystal carry; especially with so many counters to him like crystal power VOX. Either way it's still a fun thing to try in casual games.

We’ve been seeing crystal power Grumpjaw making a big splash here in update 2.3. In update 2.3 Grumpjaw got a few quality of life tweaks that seem to be making him a force that is pretty crazy to deal with. When you pair the power of crystal power Grumpjaw with the Stromcrown, you have a hero that can literally chew through objectives and heroes. Grumpjaw often works out better when you’re playing in a party with friends because if everyone doesn’t know how to follow up with his ultimate it can be a wasted ability.
